Land lines? I remember those. Used to have a rotary phone, too.

We have a land line as well as cell phones and I can't see ever disconnecting the land line, much as I would love the savings.

Our cell coverage in the area is dreadful and we do have power outages on a frequent basis; sometimes even the cell phones are dead but the land line is functional.

We had that bundle and then we said let's get rid of the landline and get rid of cable tv and that was over 2 yrs ago. Don't miss either one and one less bill to shell out each month. Now we just pay for internet which we need.

Not important to me. Still have one.

My landline is not important to me. My husband did not want to give it up, because we have had the number for over 20 years. As a compromise, I got a magicjack. The service is not that good, but I only use it occasionally. And we keep the number.

I have DSL, so I still have a landline which I prefer to a cell phone. I get better rates.

and call me old fashioned, but I miss my rotary phone !!!

Some older home alarm systems require one....

Not important to me at all. I see absolutely no reason for me to have a landline.

I live in the middle of nowhere - a landline is a necessity

We have no landline anymore (3 years). However, our cell reception is bad here. Dropped calls often. If you have good cell reception I'd say go for it.

A land line is a must under some circumstances such as if you have a business from your home where the cell reception is not reliable, elderly people in the home who are not tech savy and in the case of my son who has 2 young children who can use the land line especially in case of emergencies. More and more people are going to only cell phones for personal use. The wave of the future.

Don't have one. Only use a cell phone.

I haven't had one since I've moved out on my own. I am getting married this year, but I don't anticipate that my fiance and I will ever have the need for one in the future either. We use our cell phones for everything.

I have a young son that is home by himself for a while after school. He would surely lose a cell phone if we had one for him, so we keep the landline. No one in the house wants to answer it though. Most of the calls are telemarketers!

If I lived by myself I would just have a cell phone only. But I live w/ my 83 year old grandpa. He needs the land line. We got him a senior cell phone 1 time but he left it in his pants pocket & washed it in the washing machine.

I have never personally had one since I lived with my parents in high school....and I can't think of any reason I would ever pay for one in the future

I can't even tell you the last time I had a landline! Don't really need one with a cell phone.

I think the choice to have a land line or just a cell phone depends on who you are trying to call. Are you trying to call home? Or are you trying to call one person, your spouse or son or daughter, wherever they may be? If you have both, you can also keep one number more private, giving it out only to certain people.

I haven't had a landline in a very long time! Just make sure those cel phones are charged in case of power outage! I do not miss my home phone at all. It was all telemarketers anyways!!

I haven't had a land line in a long time. I use my cell for everything. I don't think it's necessary in this day and age.

We got rid of our landline because we never used it and got tired of paying for something we weren't using. I believe that, even if you don't pay for a landline, you can still plug a phone into the line and use it to dial 911 (but please check with the phone company on this because things may have changed since I was told this or it may only be true in certain areas, etc.).

I don't have one at the moment. I chose not to bundle. However, i can see it both ways.

I think it is still important -- can't solely depend on cell phone services

I think a "copper" landline is important if you have someone with medical issues in your home.
If there's a power outage, the copper phone line won't be affected and you'll still have phone service.
If you have a fiber landline, then it probably doesn't matter if you give it up. It's on a battery pack and you'll have service for a few hours, but will lose it in a long term power outage.

I gave up my landline years ago. Don't miss it, don't need it. I find a mobile phone is all I need.

I have a bundle through my phone company for internet/satellite/phone and it is really expensive so I'm considering getting rid of the phone.

How important is it that you have a landline phone in your home?
