I use to try to avoid being in pictures because I thought I looked terrible. Then I started to realize people really like me and they want to remember the good times with me. So now I take pictures and don't worry about what I look like because remembering the good times is what it's all about.

I love taking pictures. Even though I am over weight (considered obese) I have always had a positive self image. I'm beautiful at any size, because my true beauty comes from within! emoticon

Smile for the camera! Family wants photos because they love you. Size does not matter when it comes to love.

I run away..or..offer to be the picture taker....
and if I have to be in the picture (and it's not an ID), then I head for the back row
and hide behind everyone else.

I have to get my photo taken a lot at work. I try to dress simply on a photo day, and have good hair. I get my hair done every 6 weeks. If in a winter coat, I wear a good scarf and shoes. If it's a suit do not wear gray, it looks terrible in photos. It doesn't always work out, but some of them are okay. I did splurge and have a professional photo taken to use for PR purposes, so I could be 100% sure of an attractive photo.

I hate having my picture taken; it's nothing to do with how my body looks, it's my face, in most pictures I look like I have such a horse face! My smile also looks goofy.

I hate pics so much, I don't have FB. If I had to put a pic up, it would be from 6 years ago.

My pet peeve, since I don't have FB, people who put pics with me in them on FB. the least they could do is photoshop.

when I was a lifetime member of The Fat Boys Club I hated my picture being taken but I stood still and smiled anyway for the camera.

Now? I'm a photo 'ho.

I was absolutely tortured when I was a kid by family members taking pictures of me whenever I asked them not to and they always tried to find embarrassing ones (i.e. ones where I was eating or with stupid expressions on my faces. At family gatherings I still hate it; I don't think they realized the ramifications it had on me. If people warn me or ask me to be in one, though, I don't mind. It's just the tortuous candid ones I hate, especially in the age of social media.

I have never liked getting my picture taken (no matter what my weight or fitness level).

But i find it a bit more bearable since the advent of digital cameras, and it's easy to take lots and lots of shots, and erase all the lame ones. OH I used to DREAD opening up the envelope of prints from the photo finishing shop, flipping through them and ughhh there would be me with my eyes squinted shut or my mouth hanging open or otherwise looking dorky and terrible... and would my mom ever throw these away? NO cuz she PAID GOOD MONEY for them ha ha ha.

Thank you, digital universe, for making picture-taking more bearable.

SMILE! Act Goofy! Consider the person taking the picture. I take hundreds of pictures and people who turn away from the camera ruin my shot. It's a memory, a moment and everybody adds to the moment. Don't be a detractor or a negative nellie. Unless your in the witness protection program, seize the moment.

It was a picture of my former fat self that started my new improved journey.

I used to hate it and would be the one taking photos and wouldn't want my photo taken. I regret it now since there are long periods of me with many photos and I am absent in them. I have decided over weight or not I am going to be in photos so my kids and grandchild(ren) have photos of me. They love me no matter what weight I am at, I so regret running from the camera now. And guess what? I was thinner, younger, and better looking back then verses now. No more avoiding cameras for me. I took 4 photos today in the theater with my husband. I will be putting my favorite one on Facebook in a few minutes. I have a new attitude when it comes to my picture taken, I have the person take several that way I can pick and choose the ones I like. Technology today makes that really nice.

Everybody hates getting their picture taken. Okay, well, maybe not everybody, but LOTS of people, and it has nothing to do with how attractive you really are. The weight doesn't make much of a difference, either; I still dislike my pictures almost as much as I did at my very heaviest.

The only piece of advice I can give is to ask people not to let you know when they're taking your picture, and don't look at them right away. If you avoid pictures, other people will be disappointed because they want a picture of you, and at some point in the future you'll also be disappointed because you'll want memories and feel left out. As bad as it is to see ugly pictures of yourself, it's worse to look in an album or a good friend's Facebook and see pictures of everyone BUT yourself. There's about a 15-year stretch of my life that's really not documented anywhere, and I would be happier if there were at least a few pictures of me at certain events, even if they were truly horrible pictures.

And we always think our pictures look worse than they really do look to other people. For one thing, they're reversed from how we see ourselves in the mirror, so they look "wrong." They look bad to us because they don't match our self-image. But I mean, really, when was the last time you looked at someone else's photo and thought, "Wow, I thought she was pretty, but this photo tells me she's an ogre"?

So that's how I deal with getting a picture taken-- remember that the person taking it is taking it for him/herself, not for you, and let them do it. You don't have to look at it, but you'll have the opportunity to do it later if you want.

I hate it. I don't think I look as bad as I actually do in pictures. How do I deal with this?
