Make changes gradually - BABY STEPS. This means initially change one or two things, and allow your mind/body to get used to the changes before you add something else to the mix. It might be reduce soda/juice, while increasing water. It might also be walking a little further in your day.
Don't treat this with a 'diet' mentality. That will only set you up to fail or fall off the wagon.
This isn't about deprivation or starvation - it is merely a healthy lifestyle journey. It is about wise choices of food MOST of the time, and eating within your calorie range MOST of the time. There will be times that we go to parties or on holiday or eat poorer choices "just because" - that is part of life. The trick is to not make it a regular part of life!
The other thing is to weigh your food and enter it all into the Nutrition Tracker. I found that this helped to keep me on track - it kept me motivated and allowed me to tweak my intake as and when needed.
Good luck for finding what works best for you! Kris

When I realized I needed to lose weight these are some of the things I did: 1. Made a clear goal of weight and size I would become 2. Resolved to do all it took to reach my goals in a healthy way 3. Defined my stategy 4. Researched, asked questions and read tips from others on this journey 5. Used affirmations, rules of thumb, quotes and vision boards for motivation 6. Counted days in a row that I exercised and am competetive enough to want forever streaks 7. Decided that I would use my propensity to form habits to change to healthy choices 8. Weighed (still do) once a week 9. I tracked every morsel of food I ate for 9 years (I still track fitness minutes) 10. Became vegetarian the first 3 or so year of my journey (I now sometimes eat sustainably caught fish) 11. Viewed/view this new healthy lifestyle as a practice in mindful self-mastery 12. Made healthy substitutions (fruit instead of cookie for example) 13. Enjoy a small amount of dark chocolate nearly every day 14. Rewarded my progress with new clothes, vacations and dates with friends 15. I started always having breakfast and drinking lots of water 16. Show gratitude and notice all the things in my life that I appreciate 17. Knowing that my quality of life would improve and this has proven true in more ways than I ever imagined 18. Stay involved and engaged with this community
Happy Summer Solstice What an auspicious time to dive into a healthy transformation. I wish you success!

I have had a pattern of starting and stopping and letting failures carry me for months. For those that have lost weight successfully and changed habits, can you give me some pointers and tips?
