I actually do buy the natural crunchy peanut butter. I often even pour out a little of the oil before mixing it all up. Thanks for the help! I'll plan on continuing my love affair with 2 tbls of peanut butter a day AND still lose weight. :)

PB is very healthy! Just look at the ingredients on the jar and make sure the ingredients say Peanuts and salt or just peanuts, that's it.

I have pb pretty much everyday. If you like it, it can definitely be a part of a healthy diet. If you don't like it then don't bother, but it seems like you do so go ahead!

I think if you can keep it in moderation (I can't!) and it fits into your calorie, fat and protein ranges, then enjoy. :)

Peanut butter is great. I take a peanut butter sandwich (on multi-grain toast) to the movies sometimes. It's so good that I have no interest in popcorn!

I have been on my Doctor's diet plan for almost 2 months and no joke, have gone through 4 jars of Jif Reduced Fat Crunchy Peanut Butter and lost 24 pounds so far, so I think it's safe to say you can eat peanut butter and lose weight :) It's good fat and high in protein :D

Peanut butter, whether chunky or smooth, can indeed be VERY healthy.

Look for something with just peanuts or peanuts and salt on the label. And eat it in moderation! It's got a LOT of calories in it (because it's full of healthy fats).

Peanut butter can be extremely healthy or not so good. It is one where you really have to read your labels. Most peanut butter removes the healthy fat and puts in hydrogenated oil so the peanut butter will not separate at room temp, then they add sugar and salt to make it taste better. So what you end up with, not so good.
But you can buy natural peanut butters that are really healthy, although they can take some getting used to. I like ones that have nothing in them except peanuts. Once you get used to the flavor, the others taste really salty and overly sweet.
And if you are balancing your diet with the spark ranges, all is good.

Peanut butter, crunchy or smooth, isn't bad in iteself.

It's a good source of protien, relatively high in fiber, and it's also a source of mono- and poly- unsaturated fats. It provides significant amonuts of niacin, Vitamin E, calcium, copper, potassium, iron, and magnesium.

It's also very dense in calories, and some brands have added trans fats and sugar.

Avoid those brands, eat it in moderation, and peanut butter is health food.

I don't think it matters if you eat chunky or smooth. The all natural PBs will be your best bet. Nothing but peanuts and salt! Also, all the protein and good fat is hard to beat. I eat 2 tbls almost every day!!!

One of the keys to long-term success is finding things you love that fit into a healthy lifestyle. Crunchy peanut butter can be one of those things if it works in your nutrients and ranges and it sounds like it does. I'm a smooth PB lover and eat it often.

not sure about crunchy peanut butter, but you gotta watch out for peanut butter. Personally there are alot of calories in just 1 tbsp, which is alot and to me its not worth those calories. Secondly i would only have the all natural peanut butter, all other peanut butter is no good for you..not sure if you can get the all natural with peanuts or not, check around!!!

I LOVE crunchy peanut butter. Especially at work when I'm busy and can down a spoonful with an apple or toast. I think it's a great filling snack. I count all my calories in Sparkpeople and am very good about measuring. So, I'm wondering if it's bad that I eat a couple of tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter everyday for a snack? Is it ok as long as I stay within my calorie/fat range?
