How is your recovery going? It has been a while, so hopefully you are fully recovered! What has worked (or not worked) for you? When I hurt my Achilles, I followed the advice on which I found very helpful. If you are still in recovery mode you might want to check it out.

Because of the nature of your injury, you really need to ask your doctor. You may need a referral to a physical therapist; in the mean time, track your nutrition, and focus on maintaining your diet while you heal and recover. We can't responsibly give you any recommendation for exercise because of your needs. A PT can design a program for you once you're cleared for exercise that can help you recover and burn calories safely.

Weight loss happens in the kitchen, not the gym, so you'll need to manage your appetite and your weight with what you eat. Weigh and measure everything, track faithfully, and you should avoid weight gain while you recover.

There's a time for weight loss, and recovering from surgery isn't that time.

I am so sorry to hear that :(

I broke my leg in 3 places in 2007 at work and all I can suggest is to lift weights. I had weights at home so I did it there-of course I could only work on my upper body. This is all I can suggest-I don't go to a gym so I don't know what kind of machines they have. You may be able to work the leg machine where you sit down and lift with the front of the legs (I don't know the name and I don't think it would pull on you). Sorry this is my only suggestion :(

When I was out of the cast I was able to do some light walking and was able to use the exercise bike and elliptical-not sure how you would fare with that type of injury.

I ruptured m Achilles. Surgical intervention. 2 weeks post op. In a boot. I have not gained weight while on bed rest (Phew!) but concerned as I start moving around I will have an increased appetite and with not know! What can I do? I have a gym membership and can use any kind of machine, etc. Help?
