emoticon emoticon emoticon WELCOME TO SPARK!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.

A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.

1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.

2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.

3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.

The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family!

I'm 5'4" too, so I know what it's like to carry the extra weight. In fact, I can hardly wait until I'm down to 221. I started at nearly 400 pounds - my doctor's scale couldn't weigh me, and after I lost some weight with SparkPeople I weighed 375, so that's my "start weight" on here.

Because of my height, I know I won't look like a supermodel (my legs are simply built differently), but I'm looking forward to being as healthy as I can be, and looking my best. I know you are, too.

One of the greatest things about being on Spark is learning about different people's journeys, what brought them here, what they endure and how they cope. I wish you all the best!!

Take care,

emoticon Welcome to Spark. You have taken the first step on your journey by joining!
I've been a member a little more than two years. I made fantastic progress and lost 100 pounds in the first year BUT I became careless about nutrition and exercise and have gained 30 back! I became disgusted with myself and closed my Spark account, but soon realized I NEEDED to be here. I'm back using the nutrition and exercise trackers now - they are so important. The sense of community and the friendships I have made here keep me going!
Explore the site, make your Sparkpage, join teams, and make friends. You will find this site an amazing place full of encouragement, inspiration, advice, and support.
Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with.
Good luck!

So, I'm overweight. I've struggled with my weight all my life, but hit it big last year. I weighed in at 221lbs, which is a lot for most people, but especially someone who is 5'4" like me! I did the HCG diet, you know, the one where you can only eat 500 calories a day. It worked, until Christmas time. I lost 42lbs doing HCG and felt great (except for the fact that I began to slowly add normal food back into my diet, only to find out that I still had issues with food itself despite having lost all that weight!). I have since GAINED about 20lbs back, and I currently weigh in at 195. I stumbled across SparkPeople through Yahoo and now I'm excited, now I feel like I can really accomplish something! A menu, a work out plan, recipes, people to talk too, goals to set...........WOW!!! I'm stoked about this website!!! One thing that really made me happy was when I typed in my height, weight, and goal weight it said that I could reach my goal by September. Why haven't I done this before?!
