I am buying lots of fruit for Christmas day! I love fruit so it will be easy to pass up fatteing treats for something healthy!

You started SP and your health & weight mission at a time when food is certainly the center of attention and socializing. Yet, you were able to keep it all under control. That is wonderful. Hanukkah & holiday season.
You doing GREAT! My goal is moderation! I try not to feel too full, but allow myself to sample or taste things that are tempting! Good Luck and Happy Hanaka!

I started sparkpeople 8 days ago, which coincidentally, was the beginning of Hanukkah. Hanukkah is the Festival of Lights but also a Feast of Oil. The traditional foods are literally all fried (latkes, donuts). I don't know what I was thinking, but I did manage to survive the week making some pretty health substitutions! Baked latkes (rather than fried) are almost as good as the real deal when smothered with unsweetened apple sauce! Kugel, or noodle pudding, is almost as good as the traditional version using vanilla yogurt instead of sour cream, and honey instead of white sugar. Beautiful mixed greens, a gorgeous fruit salad, and healthy salmon rounded out our holiday meals (we made this meal twice). No one missed the decadent desserts and the high fat side dishes I usually make.
My calorie count was still way over my goal for the week, but it was also at least 1/3 (maybe half) of what it would be any other year. I am calling this week a SUCCESS!
How about you? How are the holidays treating you in regard to making healthy choices?
