I mostly don't drink any pop. If I have 6 this year that would be a lot. I'm 65 now, and I stopped drinking pop in my thirties because it threw me into low blood sugar. I wasn't eating like I should, and using pop to pull me. I had a girl friend that drink a lot of it. Close to 8 a day, and she got a lot of tumors from it. I know it makes your stomach jittery. The amount of calcium in it also cause you to have bone lose, and damages your nervous system.

Went cold turkey off Mountain Dew close to 15 yrs now. Don't miss it at all. Drink mostly water or unsweetend tea now.

Yes. I am 27 days with out one. It is not easy but is getting better. I have found that I am not having the stomach problems that I was having before. Maybe a coincidence, I don't know. Good luck!

I drank a 12 pack a day when I was younger, switched to diet in the 80's but didn't slow down at all. Last year I decided to stop at 6 a day and drink water after that, when I was comfortable with that I went to 4, then 2, and now 1 a day. I occasionally skip a day but I don't know if I can give them up entirely.
i haven't quit entirely. i buy the carbonated waters and it helps my craving for sodas a lot of the time. but every once in awhile, i let myself have one.

I just stopped drinking diet soda this week. I was drinking them for the caffeine, but am finding I am doing quite well without them. I've had a slight headache but think that will wear off.

I stopped 10 years ago, when I first had chemo for cancer. The chemo changed the flavors of a lot of things, and it made soda taste "metallic". Over the course of my treatment, I realized that I didn't miss it, and never went back to it. I also have acid reflux, and my symptoms from that really improved after a few months with no soda. My beverage of choice these days is actually water.
Another great benefit I like about giving up soda; no more hauling the empty bottles and cans back to the store to get my deposit back!

Been several years since I had a soda - can't say anything for weight loss because I didn't really pay attention but now I don't even consider it a beverage choice.
No, I haven't stopped drinking soda. I have an occasional diet soda or an occasional regular soda. Everything in moderation for me (except gluten, of course.)

I love Coke Cola! I gave it up along with all excess sugars and have lost 16 lbs within the last 2 months. Prior to giving up sugar I was on a major plateau. After two months I now give myself an occasional treat like a coke or a piece of cake. They just don't taste as good as I remember and it's easy to get back to my no sugar diet. The reason they are bad for you is because they are loaded with sugar and a little sugar goes a long way.
I do try to avoid drinking soda most of the time. But I will have a Root Beer Float occasionally, for a treat! Not too often though! Thinking of the amount of sugar in them makes me shudder!

PUNKIN103: I quit drinking diet soda (Dr. Thunder, primarily) a few years ago. The main benefit I received from doing that is that I drink more water now. I loved drinking diet soda, but I have not missed drinking it one bit.

I don't drink pop often, but I wasn't a huge pop drinker before I started my diet in January. I just find that if I drink pop I don't drink enough water. So I only occasionally drink it-- like if we go out to eat or something. One pizza restaurant we go to has free pop when you get the buffet, so I sometimes drink it there.
I don't really feel like I have noticed any major changes in my health b/c of reducing my pop intake, but since I wasn't a huge pop drinker before that probably doesn't say much. LOL
soda free 5 years. I have a sensitivity to High Fructose Corn syrup and don't like artificial sweetners or stevia. When they replace the HFCS with Sugar, i may go back to "having a pepsI as a sometime treat.

I stopped drinking soda 45 years ago when my father died. I don't miss it at all.
I now drink only an occasional diet soda. I actually do not notice all that much difference.

it will vary some from person to person. And it depends on what you were drinking. If you have been drinking a lot of 'regular' soda that also has caffeine, you are likely to have some withdrawals and feel worse before you feel better.
it also depends on what you are drinking in place of the soda. 100% fruit juice may be healthier than soda, but it's also full of calories and (natural) sugar.
there hasn't been much difference for me, but I had gone from regular cola to caffeine free diet cola years ago. And I only drank 3 or 4 per week.

I quit drinking soda on a regular basis about 10 years ago. I have an occasional mixed drink made with diet soda.
As for weight loss, it depends on how much you drank. I dropped 20 pounds in a year. But I drank a lot of soda.
I didn't feel any better or worse from stopping soda. There are a variety of studies saying that soda is bad is for you. How true or accurate they are, who knows? I do know I did not need the empty calories!

I am trying to stop. I haven't had one since 10/21/13 monday. I was wondering how long after stopping do you see weight loss or feel better? I was just wondering the benefits of stoppping.
