I can relate to you. I just reached my half-way mark as well. And I am trying to make healthy choices, too. I have lost 15 on my way to 30.

Love your attitude ! You're excactly where I was about three and a half years ago. (I had lost 25 pounds and had another 25 to go....) I'm happy to say, not only did I reach my goal of 50 total pounds, but I've kept the weight off all this time and continue to enjoy the journey ! emoticon emoticon emoticon

A great attitude- we have similar amounts to lose and are both about halfway. I too hope to lose it all by Christmas (1 year after the birth of my last baby). Thanks for today's motivation!

Congratulations and stick with it!Thank you for inspiring me. I have been trying to lose weight for the longest while. Whenever I lose 10 lbs I gain 12 later on. I am not dedicated. I know what I should do but somehow cannot get it done. My problems include not drinking the 8 glasses of water everyday. Sometimes I do, other times I forget. You have made me re-dedicate myself to good health. Good luck. emoticon

I am totally with you. I started out at 188 on Feb 1st and after talking with my primary care physician I am on the path to get to 160 by December 1st. My doc wanted me to get to 150 but that may be too low. I am about 5'8"". I am now at 174. My strategy is to keep my usual calorie intake around 1,600 per day with under 180 gms of carbs and about 40 gms of fiber. I never go three hours w/o eating. I workout at the gym at least 3 times a week and sometimes as much as 5 times. Sometimes, I spend an hour on cardio and 1/2 hr on resistance and weights.

I needed to see your post!!! I have been trying to lose 5 lbs for a year!! I had a great trainer and he put me on a program and I change it to keep it fresh..I am very toned and my arms are well cut BUT I cannot stay away from cookies, cakes and anything sweet. Tomorrow I will begin a journal of my intake- thanks to you and maybe NOW I will shake the weight

Thanks for reminding me that it doesn't have to be hard. In fact, the only way that it will work for the long haul is to keep it simple and easy. Thanks for the reminder when everyone else is talking about counting carbs and adding supplements.

On my 47th birthday, I made a commitment to give myself the gift of a new body. For my myself and my health, my daughter, my hubby, my music!!! Starting with a total of fifty pounds total to lose, I made it to the halfway point on June 25, 2010. Only 25 pounds left to go. I think I'll easily make it by Christmas!

My greatest lessons so far:

Every day I re-commit to myself to eat consciously. When I think about reaching for something sweet or salty, I look at what's going on in my life, in that moment - discomfort, conflict, need for love or comfort - and I've learned that I can consciously choose not to give into to those urges to ease my mind.

I've learned to eat smaller meals through out the day and not allow myself to get famished. This practice made impulse eating non-exististent!

I've learned that I actually enjoy cooking, and that I actually CAN cook!

I've learned to weigh and document everything I eat, and drink 8 glasses of water a day!!! Thank you SparkPeople!

I've learned getting fit doesn't have to be "hard". I learned to create an awesome context that includes an empowering story full of rich motivation, and I SHARE it with friends, family and the people I work with. I'm inspired, and guess what? So are they!!!

I've learned to log in to SparkPeople everyday and play to make the journey FUN and in GREAT company!

Most of all? I've learned to just HAVE FUN!!!
