Love starting my day with a green smoothie. I have heard it was a good idea to mix things up and not always use the same ingredients. Anyone know if this is true or not? I do tend to change things up depending on what I have.
1 C spinach 1 C kale celery stalk 1/3 cup parsley hunk of ginger 1/2 C coconut water 1/2 C water 1 tsp coconut oil 1 Tbs chia seeds 1 C frozen strawberries 1./2 banana
I just finished mine. 3 cups kale (other days spinach or both) 1/3 cup frozen mango 1/2 cup frozen blueberries 10 frozen cherries 2 tbs flax meal 2 tbs chia seeds Oh, and about a cup of water or cold chaga tea (edit addition)
My kids have some too, my oldest thinks I put ice cream in his, yay, sneaked veggies! I love the feeling that no matter what else I do in a day, at least I got an early start on my veggies and therefore my good nutrients!
Has anyone tried using V8 or tomato juice in a green smoothie? I, too, have an issue with bitter taste of kale and sometimes it doesn't quite smooth up like it should. Thanks for the tip of removing the stems, will have to try that. I like using ice in mine also to keep it as cold as possible.

I wish I could learn to like smoothies, but I really hate them in all forms. I'd rather just eat whole fruits and veggies.

My base smoothie is almond milk, spinach, chia seds ( or ground flax) and frozen banana.
From there I will usually add cocoa powder or pb2, last week I added shredded coconut, t of coconut oil, and pineapple. When I remember I will add a t of any healthy oil to mix in--- image onemostdays, but often forget that step :)
I love spinach but I can't stand kale, and I haven't yet tried a green smoothie. I think they are going to be an addition to my intake this summer, and I'd love to be able to incorporate kale. I know I don't *have* to eat it and could always just use spinach, but I'd still really like to find a kale recipe or two that I find palatable, just for the fun of it. Does it taste very..."kale-y" in a smoothie? Are there particular fruits that work best with it?
I tossed a handful of spinach in a chocolate shake for my son and he didn't even realize it was there! That makes me think I can hid it in just about any smoothie or shake. Wonder if I'd notice it in my morning coffee shake?
Right now I am drinking a cup of spinach, half cup of frozen mango, and half cup of frozen pineapple blended with water. This was my first attempt at a green smoothie yesterday and I really enjoy it! Anyone else drink green smoothies? What is your favorite?
