Sounds like a sensible plan. You need a spark page to add friends. Hope you're having a great day.

Thanks Gwen :) I'll add you as a friend just as soon as I can figure out how.

I am following the nutrition tracker, yesterday was the first day. The meals don't seem like much when looking at the list but man when I get a lunch of 12 strawberries, 2 cups salads, walnuts ect... it turns out to be ALOT I couldn't eat that much. This morning I have oatmeal, egg whites, milk and an apple. Thats a lot for me for breakfast so I think I will break things into smaller meals and just be sure to eat what is recommended through out the day as long as it isn't late at night.

Am I competitive?? LOL It's in my blood, this crazy drive that forces me to do whatever it is I put my mind to never letting me stop even if I wanted. It's how I started my business from the less than &80, got through college with kids and work. I AM the definition of competitive. I love your ideas, I will be setting up my spark page hopefully today or tomorrow and starting a blog. I want to get a photo of myself first which of course I HATE to do but one every week tucked away where I can't see it will help me see the progress in the end.

Already took a walk today. Got some work done. Started marinating my flank steak for dinner tonight. Gotta take little man to the dentist then more work. I need to find a way to not sit on my butt working all day, somehow I should be able to stand and move around too just not sure how yet.

emoticon Welcome to SparkPeople!
Are you competitive by nature? One of my daily goals is to hit 100 SparkPoints. When I do that, I've not only read articles, I've interacted with other members by reading and commenting on their blogs and writing my own blog. 100 points gets me here and gets me active each and every day.

When I started, I made the commitment to workout daily and write a blog about it. On days when I don't feel like doing it, I think about the blog I need to write and I certainly do NOT want to write that I was lazy and did not work out.

Start your SparkPage and put your weight loss tracker on it for all to see. Write your goals (that's what all the goal-setting gurus write about) and make the goals public on your page. Write about it on your blog every day.

Weight loss/maintenance = calorie maintenance, cardio, and strength. Calorie maintenance is every day, cardio is at least five days per week, and strength is 3 to 4 days per week. I believe you need all three for a successful weight loss and fitness program.

Above all, be consistent. Doing something toward you goal every day will pay big rewards over the next few months or a year. You can do this!

Hi emoticon and congratulations on beginning your Spark journey!

There's so much here to help you along the way and excellent advice to setting and achieving healthy goals. With the thousands and thousands of fellow Sparkers you will always find someone you can connect with. I am always amazed how many lives have been changed for the better through the use of SparkPeople.

If you have not already done so, I suggest that you check out the videos in the "Healthy Lifestyle" section. Scroll down for the site orientation videos.

That should point you in the right direction. I find that if you just start looking around Spark, you will quickly learn about the wonderful tools available for your use. After being a Sparker since 2007, I still find something new and very useful.

Welcome and best wishes!

Hi and welcome to Spark People where you will find lots of information and tons of support and encouragement from all our members. You will find that we also have fun along the way. Drink your 8-8oz glasses of water a day (If you only drink one now, add to as you are able until you are drinking your 8 cups or more a day), watch your portion control (measure everything in the beginning...guaranteed it will get easier) and walk, dance or do any exercise you enjoy (start with 10 minutes a day or several times a day and add to it as you are able or have time). Use your fitness and nutrition tracker daily (guaranteed to work if you use them consistently and honestly). Pick one thing to thing at a time. Don't try to change to many things at once as that can be very overwhelming. Just try to take one step, one minute, one hour, one day, one week at a time. They honestly will all add up to the bigger numbers. These tips will definitely help in lowering your numbers and increasing your ability to enjoy life. Don't expect miracles right away...this is a lifestyle change not a diet. You will be much healthier in the long run. Post any concerns, comments or questions you may have and someone will respond quickly.
Start each day with a positive thought just for that day. Reading and reflecting on an inspirational thought or message before you start your day can put you in a positive frame of mind.
Your thoughts determine whether you have a good day or a bad day. Fill your mind with positive ideas, suggestions, and thoughts. You will find it will change your attitude and changing your attitude can change your life.
Sometimes just reading an inspirational quote or a short paragraph helps one see the positive in a situation. Sometimes as your day progresses you just need to take a break...Take a mental break and read or think about a message of inspiration.
Never underestimate your power to change and improve! You are a good person, with wonderful qualities, and you can reach your goals! Great to see your husband on board with you!!
Set up your Spark page so that we can visit and get to know you, send you spark goodies, and leave encouraging and supportive comments to help you along the way.
If I can be of any help to you, please let me know with a spark mail or a comment on my page. I am here for you.
God bless you on your journey to a healthier you.

I'm all ready to go I think! Got familiar with the site over the weekend and did shopping for 4 days of meals yesterday... even got the hubby on board.

Mother of 2, sometimes 3 depending on what mood the man is in. :-D Graduated college a year ago and just bought a house. Seems like time has just flown by but I am now in a place where I can work on me and thats what I plan to do.

Glad to see such a huge support system here!
