I bombed week 2. This is week three and I am slowly getting into my groove. I am having a hard time pinning down lasting habits. The old ones always come back on me when I'm stressed, or tired. Looking for that motivation to take better care of myself and make better choices.

It's hard but we can do it! I think this week I'm focusing on some healthy substitutes for some of my favorite foods, I'm a vegetarian, one of my favorite local pub food is a black bean veggie burger on a pretzel roll with grilled onions, guacamole, cheese, and roasted red peppers with a fries and a side of curry sauce. This is totally over board (but I love it so).

So today I baked a ciabatta roll, used only the bottom half, and cooked up a spicy black bean burger. I made a quick batch of fresh guacamole with 1 tomato, 1 avocado, 1/4 cup chopped red onion, a handful of cilantro and lemon juice (out of limes). I made an open face sandwich topped it with a tbsp guac and some baby romaine. Instead of fries I found these lentil chips at the grocery store and they are pretty good. Anyway totally felt like I got my burger and fries but in a much healthier way. It really satisfied my week 2 unhealthy cravings.

Good Luck!

I have trouble with self sabatoge in week 2 too. I get so hyperfocused and self critical that I stop enjoying life around me and I become someone I don't like. Having it pointed out by the kids is a sure week 2 killer. Especially when they start begging for some "real" food. I am a great cook and so when I cut back on portions and cut back on fats and sugars everyone notices pretty quickly. I lost 20 lbs in fall of 2012 before thanksgiving but took a break from sparkpeople and all things self control, and thankfully didn't gain too much weight back, but I am starting week 2 of my startup tomarrow and what did I do tonight, gave in to the kids wanting to make brownies from scratch. And not just any brownies, they are more like molten chocolate brownies. I am looking for tips on self sabatoge too. I am looking to survive week 2 with some goal success. Forward progress. This is going to be a long week.

Glad ur still at it. Don't quit. No matter what work at it each day and when you fall down get back up.

I'm reading Richard Bernstein M.D.'s "Diabetic Diet" and learning so much. He has lectures on YouTube. He says even if we don't have Type 2 diabetes if we are OBESE, we WILL get it. I'm reading and trying to educate myself. He says Metformin is a helpful medicine for those with pre-diabetes and it helps with weight loss.

My first week went really well and I'm on track to reaching my mini goals! while celebrating that I'm nervous about entering week 2, Which has been historically a rough week for me usually cause me to give it up altogether. I feel like I self sabotage in some way. I know that I need to just push through it and take it day by day, keep on track with my exercise and nutrition. Any advice anyone has to keep me on track and motivated would be totally appreciated!
