I probably wouldn't recommend wrapping your feet unless you've specifically been instructed to do that by your doctor. Is your 160 mile walk going to be on uneven terrain, or on pavement? I'm wondering if maybe you need to wear supportive walking shoes instead of boots and that might fix the problem.

Thats correct I coach rugby and have basic skills in this area as we do a lot of wrapping before the games.

I'm not sure what you mean that you're strapping your foot. Do you mean you're wrapping it with athletic tape before you put your boot on?

Hi Jen - yes to off road but not too many steep climbs - I started on 4 miles and have built it up. I have organised a 160 mile walk in 7 days in June to raise money for the Hospice my Dad recently died in and can't afford to rest too much. At nights because its too dark i'm using a cross trainer about 30 minutes. This hurts my toes. I know this is all because of my weight but am hoping as it goes the pain will too.

I am strapping my foot at present is this teh right thing to do and should I have it strapped at night as well.

Your advice greatly appreciated.

A few questions:

Are you hiking? I'm assuming that's why you're wearing boots and not walking shoes. Are your shoes laced too tight? Have you slowly built up to walking this distance?

I am walking 9 or 10 miles at the weekend and for the next couple of days I get a lot of pain in the top of my right foot. It does ease within a few days.

I am wearing good quality boots and last weekend i did strap it up before I set out and thie meant no pain during the walk but Monday and Tuesday oh boy.

I have booked doctors appointment but my expereince is that I'll get as much beenefit for asking you guys as any doc.
