Yes, I see your point. I've always tested low on iron, and has been told by my doc that this is common with women, but we are all different. I guess I just don't regard floradix formula as a very potent iron supplement. Not much more dangerous than an ample serving of broccoli and spinach in my book. Perhaps this is wrong of me.

Too much iron isn't as rare as you would think. Both of my children have had times when they were medically borderline too much - one to the point of nearly needing treatment for it. They didn't take supplements either.

Using any of these supplements is best only when on the direction of your Dr. Unfortunately, too may people think they 'need' something, when they could be doing more harm than good - this applies to when a person isn't feeling the best, too!

That's true Anarie, I was not suggesting she could take it to ward of anemia. It just happens to a decent nutritional supplement (much like a concentrated vegetable juice) when you don't eat much because it also offers an ample dose of riboflavin, thiamin and some B6 and B12. (To be honest, the recommended dose merely delivers the lower range of daily iron intake for women, and as the iron is from plant sources, it is not that readily available to be absorbed by the body. This is why it's not upsetting to the stomach much more than a serving of spinach is.)

Iron supplements are generally more likely to upset your stomach if you haven't been eating enough, so I'm also voting for waiting until you hear from the doctor. Iron deficiency anemia doesn't happen overnight; if you were getting enough iron before the cold hit, you'll probably be fine if you just go back to your normal diet as soon as you can.

I agree with the others, this is a question you should ask your doctor. To much iron can become toxic although rare.

If you are feeling sluggish, and not eating as much as you should, it will probably only do you good. Hope you are feeling better soon!

I have used it in the past so know that I am not allergic to any of the ingredients, but since starting eating more healthier, I have only relied on my varied diet.

Floradix formula is a watery concentrate of a plethora of vegetable, fruit and herb juices. Mostly carrot, spinach and stinging nettle. I would not be worried of taking a cap full, even when feeling a bit under the weather, as long as you are not allergic to any of the ingredients. (It's the only iron supplement I can take without it upsetting my stomach. So, I'm familiar with the product.)

Still, asking your doc to stay on the safe side of things is never wrong when in doubt.

I agree. That would be a question to ask your doctor.

if you are taking it under the advisement of a doctor, call and ask the doctor.

Hello, I have had a bad fever/cold and as my appetite is not too good I was wondering if it is ok to take floradix a liquid iron supplement?
