P.S. SP has really changed me. I'm actually excited about the arrival of my new scales on Thursday. emoticon Last year I was too scared to even weigh myself and hid the scales in the cupboard (obviously broke through lack of use) emoticon

Thank you all for your thoughts, I have purchased a super duper set of Omron BF511 which measures Body Fat etc too. Hopefully these will actually work! When they arrive i'll increase all my past weigh ins by 10 emoticon

I would definitely go back and change your weigh-ins. In addition to being more accurate, I think it will be less confusing for you in the long run.

I'd go in and change my weigh-ins, like Dragonchilde suggested. Even though the starting weight would be higher, and the current weight is higher.. the pounds lost is the same and gets you up-to-date with a more accurate weight.

You can go back and change your weigh-ins. Simply adjust them +10 lbs, including your starting weight, and it'll show your progress just the same!

It isn't so much the number on a scale that shows success - that number could be anything, and even on the same scales, go up/down/up/down - just because that is what happens normally to everyone - even if they are in denial! What ultimately matters is the condition of your hair/skin, your energy levels, how your clothes fit, the quality of your sleep, your BP, your blood results, etc. etc.

I stopped using my scales except for a very odd occasion, a long time ago. I only weigh on my Dr's scales (the large hospital-type ones), in the same clothes and before lunch, AND immediately after a visit to the loo! (That last one can make a HUGE difference to the weight :-)

But haven't you lost the same amount of weight?? If, for example, you weighed yourself on ur scale and were 200lbs and you lost 20, you are now 180. If u use your mom's scale (or gym) you would have started at 210 and lost 20, making you 190. You still LOST 20lbs, right?

For me i dont care so much what the number is that i weigh. I want to lose weight until a point i feel better, have more energy, and fit into smaller pants. And while i am on my journey to that place i want the pounds to come off.

You can if you want. It's about relative movement in weight against the same measure, not whatever the absolutely correct figure is.

However, you also want to have some form of accuracy. Don't wanna stop when you could still need to lose 10 more pounds, right?

Remember nobody sees your history but you, and you know what that blip is about. As for friend feed, if you're worried about that, just make a status about it.

Or you could just not weigh in again until another 10lbs lost so that it looks like you just maintained for a while instead of shot up 10.

Since the start, I've been using mechanical Salter scales my mum bought me a while back. I recently used my flatmates scales and there was a 10lb difference - in the wrong direction. I've confirmed this using the scales at the gym and doctor's surgery, my scales are consistently 10lbs under. I've contacted Salter and they've agreed to swap the scales, but I realize that it's going to look awful on my tracker when I do. Plus it will demotivate me even though I know I've still 'lost' that extra amount.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm tempted just to keep the scales for now so that I have the same baseline :s
