My father/daughter dance was "Unforgettable" by Nat and Natalie King Cole.

We did our parent dances together to "In My Life" by the Beatles. It was perfect!

I love to dance and my dad is a great dancer too, so I knew that just any old song wouldn't do. I decided on Ms. Grace by the Tymes. It is a great Shag dance and when I was a little girl my daddy use to shag dance with me all the time. He also teases me by singing me this song everytime I go something ungracefull! It has a personal story even if it isn't sweet and slow!

I've known since i was a little girl that i was going to dance with my dad to the song Butterfly kisses. It makes me cry everytime i hear it.

My stepdad actually picked out the song for this. I'd never heard of it before, but after listening to it, I think it's great for a father-daughter dance.

"My Wish" by Rascal Flatts

The original is a bit fast, but there's an acoustic one that works perfectly.

I'm having the same issue with songs for the father/daughter and mother/son dance. We want to do those 2 dances at the same time so it's hard to find a song that's appropriate for both. Any suggestions for me? :)

For you I would suggest "He didn't have to be" by Brad Paisly. I know it's more from a boy's point of view, but the message in that song seems to fit your story. Good luck! :)

I found this on another wedding board and it's beautiful. It's doesn't mention the day you were born, just a general reference to being handed to him. Walk With You, Edwin McCain

here are the lyrics

I'm choosing "It won't be like this for long" by Darius Rucker. He is basically talking about watching his little girl growing up and how he should enjoy it now because it won't be that way for long. It even mentions her getting married in the song.

If you see him as having always been there for you, I highly suggest "wind beneath my wings", by Bette Midler. It's a beautiful song, with a lot of meaning to it.
My dad has always been my strength, I'm just afraid that I'm going to cry while I'm dancing with him!

My father chose "Isn't She Lovely?" by Stevie Wonder for our dance.

What about "I Hope You Dance" for your situation? Lovely song.

We're using "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. I almost cry whenever I listen to that song.

I chose "The Best Day" by Taylor Swift. I think it's actually directed towards a mother, but I think of my dad when I hear it. It doesn't talk about since she was born, but when she was 5.

That reminded me of another song,

One of the little girls that the song was written about (Maria Sue) was unfortunately killed in a car accident. Which makes it even more poignant.

There's a great country song called "Stealing Cindarella", I can't remember who sings it, but it's basically from the groom's point of view when he goes to ask her dad for her hand in marriage, he's looking at pictures of the bride with her dad growing up, and realizes why the dad is making him wait, it's because he's stealing her away from him. It's a really sweet song.

I know it might be a reach, but do you have any musician friends? You could write the lyrics and have one of them sing it or you could have someone write it and someone else sing it... Just a thought!

I don't know if this song applies to your situation.

Ok, so i have been trying to find a really meaningful father daughter song for my dad who adopted me when i was about 5-6 years old but has been in my life since i was about 6 months old. So far the best one i have found is this:

I just really want a song with some meaning in it and it is hard because the ones that do have some meaning dont fit because they sing about since the day i was born and my dad wasnt there when i was born. Help Please!!!!!
