I don't have F... but I do experience a lot of pain from arthritis in both knees and my feet, especially the tops of my feet. This all makes it hard to even walk. I used to go to Curves and loved it, but it is too painful now. My doctor suggested swimming. Since last January I have been swimming at the Y 5x per week for 40 minutes. It does not help much with weight loss but It does help lower cholesterol, and blood pressure. It also makes me feel more fit.

I have been to several docs and as you said sometimes they think all you seek are pain killers and god that's the last thing I want to get addicted to, it's not just about changing a doctor a lot think like that.
I eat motrin like candy, I'm on a low dose of valium for the fibro (tried cymbalta and that was the worst thing i ever did, it felt like my head was going to explode and my mother in law was on it for something different and it gave her a seizure)!
I see meds advertisized on the T.V. for fibro and some of the symptoms r death! I won't take that chance with my life , I love my son and hubby way too much so I just deal with the pain. I also have lyme disease so it's a life that i feel i'm not really living , but existing...
do what you can when you can and track your foods..
God bless no one knows what we go through unless they also have it! emoticon

I would change doctors if mine had no sympathy or understanding for what I was going through and instead of treating the problem or finding a cure, they treat you like a drug seeker, totally unacceptable. Yoga, pilates, meditation, self awareness etc all those things are great but that doesn't treat or cure or even lessen a great deal of people pain and that's why legal prescribed drugs were created to help reduce ones pain or even get rid of it.

Every doctor doesn't agree with each other let alone with the patient with what a patients treatment plan should be and they all have varying opinions and a lot of times it's based on personal opinions not just a professional one. And for that reason when you find a physician who doesn't agree with what you feel you need it's really time to seek a second if not third opinion regarding your care and get a new doctor. emoticon

I don't have any illnesses, but I lost all of my 40lbs without exercising. No, it's not ideal, but it can be done.

I also have the gamete of auto-immune issues and for fybro they suggest Yoga, I found at our community center a stress relaxation class and am taking that so I can keep up. It is less expensive than the membership and stuff. I did the lay around for four years and that did nothing so I am pushing though to see if it changes anything. Just wish this all helped with the headaches.

You are truly an inspiration. I am having the hardest time trying to obtain a prescription to help control my fibro, rotated sciatic joint, double sciatic nerve pain and a misaligned neck. The doctors here treat me like a drug seeker. I know people whore faking a disability and selling their medications on the black market but someone honest like me who truly needs help gets the boot. I am bitter and angry and the pain amplifies it.

I have Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, Degenerative Disc disease, and early lipodermatasclerosis. There are so many days that I feel like staying in bed, but I don't!!! I really think that sometimes you have to pull yourself up and make stuff happen. It does help that I have been on Methadone for my pain and it definately does take the edge off so I can get up and function at some level. So talk to your doctor and try to get on something that can ease the pain and get up and function as best you can!! Good luck!! emoticon

Sorry for your pain but I don't experience fribromyalgia. What I will say though is when I lost weight before the biggest factor was controlling my food intake, exercising was the least of what helped me lose 60 lbs. O fcourse I exercised but it was to tone my body while I lost weight, but if I over ate and continued to exercise at my regular rate I never lost 1 pound proving controlling our food intake is the biggest factor of losing weight not exercise it's good to have a good combination of the both for lots of reasons. But if there are times you can't exercise because of this painful condition, focus more on your nutrition intake or lack of, keep up the good work you can do this. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yes I too have fibromyalgia. I find that the more I exercise the more my symptoms abate although I still have a few down days.
