Bill, I don't know where my head was on that. You are probably right. I might try stopping when you see someone working on concrete or something like that, because I assume those 5 gallon buckets would have to have some strength to carry the weight of what they hold.

I LOVE farmers walk and credit it with some of my recent 20plus pound weight loss. I have a gym membership, so I tend to do them there. They have 45 pound plates with handles -- generally built for the bench or for dead lifts/squats, but they work PERFECTLY for the farmers walk -- they have handles, and they are heavy, and the whole exercise burns like hell. Since most gyms have the weights set up in a big room with space for people by the mirrors and behind the machines, I walk in a large loop around the room. By the time I get back to starting position, I'm toast.
When the gym is way packed, I take the plates to the basketball court and just go around the perimeter -- which is harder than the weight space -- and it crushes. I've found that it truly is a full body workout, and shreds.
Definitely add it to the repitoire.

Good idea. But I was more concerned with the bucket itself. Seems like even with water there is eventual separation between the handle and bucket (where they meet at the base of the bucket). Maybe I just need to quit buying cheap buckets. haha.
Jeez, I didn't realize that you are doing your workout in your basement. I am impressed that you are able to fit your normal workout to that atmosphere.
The only thing I can think of is getting a five gallon bucket, filling it with sand or water, and keeping it outside and doing one armed farmer walks around your neighborhood. Or getting a sandbag and doing them with it hugged against your body, no linking fingers. Then again, I don't know what the weather is like where you are.

They are good. I use them primarily to improve my grip strength. My challenge is that my basement isn't conducive to walking around with heavy weights. I've been looking for a way to do them a little more regularly. Ideas welcome.
It seems like on different websites I read, these are often coming up. From what I can tell, they are picking up heavy weights and walking with them. There seem to be different variations of them, but it seems like a great full body workout. I haven't done them before. I was curious, do you like them? Do you implement them into your workout? How?
