When I get the munchies, I tend to brush my teeth. I don't like to mess up that fresh clean feeling in my mouth, so it keeps me away from snacking. That being said, if you're actually hungry, I don't see any harm in grabbing a little snack. My favorites are protein-rich foods, such as a handful of nuts, string cheese, hard boiled egg, etc.

A friend of mine actually bought me a small gold coloured lock. It has a little chain with a note the reads " this fridge is closed at 8pm to skinny people". I just leave the fridge alone...not to mention get a good chuckle too.

Chocolate teas, chai or hot cocoa seems to help me when the CrAvINgS hit for me... :)

Evening is one of my roughest times especially on the weekends. Sometimes its not hunger for me I'm just tired. I'll go through my nightly rituals of shower and PJ's and get ready to read or journal in bed. Alot times the hunger goes. If not a warn glass of milk helps. It also helps to get to sleep.

My only rule is to find the healthiest DELICIOUS thing in the house. Celery sticks don't count because I don't like them. It has to taste good, or it won't work. Often, it's frozen fruit -- that's a favorite snack of mine. Or sometimes a little popcorn or a glass of tomato juice. Just have to be the healthiest thing I can find that I actually like.

I'm trying to drink tea (earl gray early in the day and herbal tea later) when I get into those "I need to snack" moods. Frozen grapes or chocolate kisses can also be good sweet snacks. But because they are frozen it's harder to eat a lot of them.

I struggle with evening eating too, even when I'm not hungry. I like to snack on red/yellow/orange bell peppers - they are sweet and crunchy.

Hard-boiled egg, piece of lite cheese, fruit? Or come combo thereof?

What about a piece of fruit or some Greek Yogurt with fruit?

It's 8:30, and again I want a snack (sweet/savory - doesn't matter). I'm already over calorie for the day, but I truly am a little hungry. Suggestions for things that won't totally break the bank (trying to keep in perspective the good things I did today - exercised, got enough water, got lots of veggies)
