Half-sizes, half-prices would be GREAT! However, the best foods are always the ones you cook at you can guarantee healthy. Restaurants will NEVER be a healthy lifestyle choice!

Unfortunately, I eat it all.

If I know the portions are large, I automatically cut the meal in half and ask for a take out container even before I start eating.

Oddly enough, I'm pretty happy with large servings. I know off the bat that I'm going to order something that will be three meals for me, so I order something that will reheat well. Things that reheat well are usually healthier to begin with. Anything fried and anything with a cream sauce would be repulsive when you warm it over, so if you're thinking about that from the beginning, you instinctively order something healthier. It also makes the price more palatable-- three meals for the price of one!

Yes, I would like restaurants to offer smaller serving sizes and more reasonable prices.

I have always wished restaurants would serve smaller portions and reduce their prices. I wished that long before I even started my healthier lifestyle. I hate to go containers

Agreed! The portions at most restaurants are WAY too large, and as for reheating half....meh. Most of the time it's gross and not worth the effort. I would definitely give a restaurant a ton of my business if they let you order half portions. A few that I know of will let you buy some entrees in a smaller size, but only if you can prove you're a senior citizen.
I wish I could order off the kids menu in a lot of places, seriously...

I sure do wish they would make the portion sizes smaller and thus lower the price.

I usually put 1/2 aside and bring it home at the end of lunch. If I am going somewhere else, I have been known to take an ice chest with me (with ice, of course).

yes, or at least offer a "small entrée size and price and a "large" entrée size and price.

I usually order a salad and an entrée and either share half my entrée, or take half home.

Happy Sparking!

I think restaurant portions are waaaaay too big. Many people don't have the discipline to halve the amount and bring it home. Some people won't bring it home, so they eat it all to get their money worth. I leave some behind, or take it home for later. No sense letting them dictate my dietary choices. I choose for myself.

I went to breakfast with my husband today. I really wanted whole wheat pancakes. I had been craving them all week, but the place where we went to get them had removed them from the menu. I was stuck getting buttermilk pancakes. They served me three, giant buttermilk pancakes. I sat there and stared at them, thinking to myself, "What in the heck am I going to do now?"

I ate half of them. One and a half pancakes later, I was full. My husband ate the other half...after eating his food.

My mother complained for years that I never ate all of any meal I was served. BUT I was thin when I didn't eat ALL of my American-styled portions. So, I figure the best thing to do is be aware that the servings here in the US are out of control. Do I wish the serving sizes would change? Absolutely...but that won't happen while Americans maintain their "bigger is better" philosophy.

Would you like it if restaurants served smaller portions and also reduce prices? I just had Vietnamese for lunch and brought half home. I would rather not be served as much in order to reduce the temptation to eat too much. I also think it's a shame that some healthier ethnic restaurants Americanize their food portions. We have been conditioned to eat portions that should serve 2 or even 3 people.
