It depends - if it's been 3-4 hours since my last meal, I'll usually have something small like a handful of nuts before I work out, and then afterwards have my regular dinner. If I'm running first thing in the morning, I'll try to eat a small energy bar first, then have my regular breakfast afterwards. If I workout not too long after a regular meal, I might have a piece of fruit and a small piece of protein after (turkey or something). If I'm not doing a hard workout, I don't worry about it, though.

I can't eat too close to workout time, always gives me an upset stomach, and I'm never hungry immediately after working out either. I don't think there are any stead-fast rules. I just do what works best for me.
i dont think it really matters since it takes a while for food to pass through your stomach and small intestines. you will most likely end up digesting it afterwards, unless you work out for a long time.

Both, I generally exercise afternoon or early evening. I wait an hour or so after I eat to start my workout.

I always eat dinner before I work out and will maybe have a small piece of fruit or a low calorie piece of toast with peanut butter afterwards if I have worked out for longer than 45 minutes or it was a really hard workout.

Either 1 or 2 snacks are recommended to be able to stay within the caloric range. That means one should either eat before the workout or after the workout but not both, so that one snack still remains for later during the day. After the workout is probably a better choice unless there is a sensitivity to working out with an empty stomach.

I workout before work (around 3-4 in the afternoon) so I eat breakfast around 1-2pm, then workout, then have a snack around 6 to tide me over to dinner at 9.
It is a matter of personal preference. I can't eat then go workout right away, I have to give myself an hour or so

Because I work out at 5:30 a, I don't eat before I work out, but I eat breakfast within about 30 minutes afterwards.

I workout shortly after I get up and eat breakfast after.

I eat breakfast before I workout but I give myself half an hour- to an hour before I begin to give the food some time to settle. Then I have a light post workout snack about an hour after I workout.
Eating before is largely a matter of personal preference. Some people (especially morning exercisers) feel they don't have enough energy if they don't eat at least something beforehand. Others feel nauseous if they do.
Eating after a workout is perhaps more significant, as a post-workout snack can help you refuel your body, and avoid feeling ravenous later. This is more important for workouts burning 300+ calories, and less important for less intense workouts.
