My mother says that she would become violently ill if she smelled or saw sea food. I have always had an intense dislike for sea food. So maybe, we influence what our mothers crave, or their diet during pregnancy influences what we like and dislike. It would be an interesting thing to study.

I don't remember that far back.

My mom ate a lot of pie while she was pregnant with me, and every now and then, I suddenly get very intense cravings for pie. Haha.

Can't remember where I heard it. It may have been a radio show, but a study was done with pregnant women and cravings. It was found that whatever the mother craved, the child seemed to really like. One mother loved carrots. She couldn't get enough. Her child, now 14 years old, loves carrots beyond anything else. Some of the cravings were more conventional such as subway sandwiches, pickles and other things, but it was found that the baby in the womb is highly influenced by what Mommy eats.

Interesting to think about.

I don't think the foods I consumed while pregnant have influenced my child's eating habits or preferences. I do think maybe children can inherit a preference for certain types of foods from either parent.
My dd has a sweet tooth much more like her father has where I usually crave saltier foods. I craved and ate vegetables a lot during pregnancy and she is not a fan of those vegetables.
Dd ate some vegetables more readily than others as an infant or toddler and I think there was always preference for sweeter tasting foods like sweet potatoes or fruit.

I am becoming to believe this. My grandson loves healthy foods. He is 14 months old and green beans have been his favorite food so far. He loved all the baby veggies and still loves veggies over anything. He seems to really like what his Mama ate a lot of when he was in her womb. I am going research this to see if there is any significance on what I am seeing . He does not like too much of the sweet stuff other then fruits. This is great for all of us and he is easy to feed. I think I will read up on this. Now his Mama does love sweets a lot but did not eat them while being pregnant, my daughter is such a good Mommy and she started the day she thought she was pregnant :)
