I'd say so! At least for me - when it's oppresively hot in the summer, all I can handle is salads and fresh fruit. In the fall and winter, I want warm, filling foods, so I go for soups, stews, and comfort foods.

Yup, winter makes me want to eat eat eat hearty meals. I nearly lose my appetite in the summer especially when we have really hot spells, and when I do eat it's much less.

I also think it doesn't help that in general we're more active in the summer and less in the winter - when you're sitting around more all day you're more apt to reach for those hearty foods, too!

Cold weather makes me really crave hot, fatty foods. Stuff like beef stew, meatloaf & mashed potatoes, and wing dip straight out of the crockpot!

In really hot weather I eat less and notice that I like juicy foods like fruits, cucumbers, watermelon, etc.
Cold weather always makes me want to eat more, and drink hot tea.

I think alot of that stems from our childhoods, when soups were in order, stews and anything WARM! emoticon

When it gets cold, i want to bake something. I really shouldn't because i will eat too much of whatever it is.

Yes, weather affects my appetite, because I am cold most of the winter months, I drink hot chocolate (I do not care for tea or the bitterness of coffee), consume hot soups (usually thick ones with more calories) am more often indoors so bake cookies (and eat them!) but I have less ice cream than in summer months. I usually overeat from Thanksgiving to Christmas and have to jog off the calories in January!

I tease my husband that the reason he is cold is because he needs to build his fat layer for the winter, bet there is something to this.

Totally! Warm weather calls for cooling foods: fresh vegetables and fruits!
Cool weather calls for warming foods: soups, stews, and things like that!
It is a basic principle in Traditional Chinese Medicine and it makes sense if you think of the proterties food have that guard off weather related illnesses such as colds in the winter. Winter fruits are usually citrus, very high in Vitamin C. Also winter vegetables: butternut squash or yams.

We don't give nature enough credit.

In summer we do not need to store because it is a time when fruits and vegetables are readily available. In winter, we need to store. Of course, in modern times, that has changed quite a bit with food available all year round.

The weather is getting cooler now and I am finding myself desiring more food. Is there a correlation?
