Most days I do more than 10,000 steps, once in awhile slightly less. So I think it averages out easily to 10000 steps.

I usually get at least 10,000 during the week but the weekends are a challenge. They make fun of me at work...say I am like a hyper kid always moving.

Before my tax busy season started I did - and I made sure to get to 10,000, even if it meant doing jumping jacks or going out to walk a few blocks or getting of the bus a mile away from my apt to get to the limit. Now with ice and working 15 hour days and getting less than 4 hours sleep, I'm lucky if I hit 7,000. I'll get back up though as soon as April 15th is here.

I walk everyday for at least an hour. Does any one have a favorite brand of pedometer

3/14/13 1:27 P

I finally made it to 10944 steps yesterday. I try most every day to get to 10000 but seldom make it. Today, hopefully, I am going to try to map out a walking route. I am only in Florida for 6 months a year, then in Alberta Canada for the other 6 months so when I go back there the end of April, I'll have to try to set up a new route while there. Thank goodness for my FitBit Zip- it is a big help for keeping track! emoticon

Usually I aim more for 8-thousand. Then, often I go past 8, then past 10-thousand, and some days many more.

I got a FitBit for Christmas, along with all of my coworkers. We are a competitive group. My boss tracks close to 17000 steps per day. Last week my average was about 11900. My goal is to knock him out of the top spot. Good luck in reaching your 10000 steps. :)

I don't usually get in that many over the winter months. I ramp up my walking in the Spring, Summer & Fall. ...probably one reason for gain of #'s in the dark, rainy, winter months. emoticon

I do 17000+ steps a day during the week as I walk during my lunch break and also walk back home. During the weekend I barely make 3000 steps so I decided I would try to walk 10000 steps on Saturday then rest on Sunday.

I find that I usually do 11-14000 as long as I walk 2-3 miles on treadmill, if all I do is half hour on it I don't hit my goal, and my kids did something to my tradmill the morning and its not working! So frustrated now!!

On days I work I easily make my 10000. I only make 1/2 that on nonworking days.

3/11/13 5:12 P

Yes - I have now set my goal at 20000 steps each day. I have to work at it, especially when I am home, but if I consciously decided to do it, I can. I do a lot of pacing - especially while on the phone - I have a treadmill and walk 1-2miles daily, I also meet friend from work at the local arena and run the stairs. It all adds up - just keep trying!

I have the bodymedia armband; it tracks my steps, among other things. I have a hard time getting 10,000 steps in the winter, but the warm months I get much more than that. I'm working on getting 10,000 a day.

Totally random question for everyone. I want to start tracking my steps every day, but I cannot keep a pedometer hooked onto my pant/waist. Can I use a pedometer in another way? In my pocket? Hooked to my shoes? Any other suggestions or options?

As I am losing weight, I hope that my massive stomach will shrink as well and I'd be able to better keep things hooked to my jeans, but until then, I need other options.

Thanks for your help!

This is very hard for me to achieve with my current lifestyle. I recently bought a fit bit and my highest total has been around 6,500. I work part time as a teller, so I stand all day and there is a little bit of back and forth but not enough to increase my steps. The day I had a high total was a day I did a lot of cleaning and organizing around the branch and worked out when I can home.

I am more likely to hit that 10,000 mark if I

walk the dogs 3xs (about 3/4 mile each time)
walk 2 miles at the track,
do my housework and make the trips upstairs instead of sending the teenagers
walk to the mail box
and park at the edge of the parking lot
then do my shopping.

It is an effort, but I like the challenge!

I too struggle with this, I usually do circuit training for a workout and I have a desk job so my best day has been around 7,00 steps. I'm going to try to start walking once the weather gets better. Otherwise I have no idea. I have been parking far, taking stairs when possible and still no where near. Hope you have success :)

This is such a great goal and one I have been working on myself for the past 5 months. As someone who works from home, if I did not run, I would find it really difficult to get in my avg 10,000 steps per day. I do everything I can on my non-run days to get them in--taking small loads of folded laundry to put away. Bringing groceries in from the car one at a time to pacing while thinking about what I am going to do next. Of course I try to walk when I don't run, but I have noticed that I love, love, love the challenge. I am only 250,000 steps to reach my 2 million step mark and I want to do so by next Friday (my 5 month anniversary date)...we shall see.

Keep up the awesome job!

Coach Nancy

10000 steps is my goal and usually I get it. It is always easier when I do my walking tape, on those days I usually go way over 10000.

I have been trying to do 10,000 steps every day and I have managed it often. Sometimes I've even gone higher. But some days I feel like I am wearing myself out! Any good suggestions on how to get it done?
