Only at the grocery stores!

Grocery stores, yes because I don't have a printer to print out coupons nor do I have a newspaper subscription to get the brand coupons. But I do make meal decisions based on what the store has on sale that week.
For other stuff, I'll try Marshalls/TJ Maxx first for a lot of things (DSW for shoes) but if I can't find what I want there, I'll search online for coupon codes that apply to the stores I want to buy from.
I basically look at it as there is a certain level of effort I am willing to go through in order to not pay full price (or shipping for that matter!) but after that is exhausted, I decide whether the item is worth the price they're asking or not.
I do pay full price sometimes. Probably groceries most often. I do buy store brands and try to be frugal but I don't use coupons or run to 5 different stores to get the best deals. I buy what we need that fits in our budget.
If it is an expensive item then I am more likely to search for the best price or wait until it is on sale somewhere.
Rarely. I shop clearance, outlets, Ross, etc. The last thing that I may have paid full price for were some small Christmas gifts (that were cheap anyway) and bras (style loyalty; while pricey, they last the longest while making me look good). I also coupon when I have them. The local grocer also does a lot of BOGOs, so I always check those for things that I use regularly.

I try never to - I agree - prices are artificially inflated!
I buy a certain brand of children's clothes for my Grandkids because I like them. They have always, always been priced at $6.99 per piece marked down from $12.99. The trouble is they have never ever been priced at $12.99 over the 4 years that I have been buying them. Where is the sale in that? I think sales are just the real price of something that has been over inflated in the first place. If I want to buy something and I feel the price is reasonable I buy sale or no.

Check prices and then shop on-line for cheapest

I research prices before I buy on big items. In UK Pricerunner.co.uk is brilliant for comparing products and prices - I'm sure you must have a US equivalent. I manage to get a lot of groceries on offer by buying at the right time or choosing the products that happen to be on offer that week. Occasionally I have to pay the full price for some things though!!

I try to buy things on sale but once in a while you just have to suck it up on certain things & pay the price now. If you buy cheap quality it wears out faster and then you pay for something twice. VERY BAD~
I actually prefer to shop when there's no sale; to avoid the crowds! I HATE crowded places! I'd rather pay full price to shop in comfort! That said, like a previous poster said, sometimes when you want to buy something and it happens to be on sale, it IS a nice surprise! But I wouldn't brave the crowds just to go to a sale, unless I need to, like when I ran out of usable underwear, so I just went to the sale to stock up on them! But I ended up spending more than RM700! Sometimes, I think you tend to spend more when there's a sale. But I needed the underwear anyway, so I just bit the bullet and braved the crowds!

Try to only buy on-sale items. Also, trying to use coupons more at the Grocery store.

Honestly, I almost never pay attention to whether something's on sale. Sometimes I find out something's on sale when I'm checking out, an it's a nice surprise, but it doesn't really determine whether I buy it. If I want it and can afford it, I buy it. If I don't want it I don't buy it. If I can't afford it, I either save money until I can or decide it isn't important enough to bother with. I just don't have the diligence and patience to pursue sales. All my purchasing decisions are based on the actual price of a product or service and whether I feel it's a good value to me.

I never pay full price for anything. If it is not marked down at least 40% then I guess I really don't need it. I am addicted to clearance racks.

I try to get a sale when I can. Especially when it cones to my favorite brand of clothes, from Coldwater Creek

I don't see the point in overpaying but, honest to God, I am SO sick of our culture's obsession with getting a "deal"!
In my opinion, if it's a good value and your need it, then buy it. If it's not, then don't buy it. If you need a new swimsuit and find one that looks good, go for it! (And congrats to the poster above who did just that!
Sometimes I think people don't care what the actual price is, as long as they think they're getting a discount!

I did used to pay full price for any article of plus-size clothing that made me look good.
Yeah, i could wait for the sale but then what if they were out of my size?
It's a bit easier now that I'm no longer reliant on plus size clothing (which - at least in my area, there's not all that many retail options!)
I also recently payed a RIDICULOUS full-price for a bathing suit that was kind to my jiggly 48-year-old weight-loss-induced-excess-skin covered body (cuz i'm going to mexico in December). Yeah, there were cheaper suits but uhm. Yeah. Sometimes you just gotta suck it up and pay for what "works."

Of course, with all of the items we need often, groceries, etc. there simply can't and won't be a sale on everything, life doesn't work that way, at least, not where we live.............maybe in heaven, we will do better.

I look at all of the so called sales that I see advertised all year long and feel that prices must be artificially inflated if they can afford to discount all of these items on a regular basis.
I do my best to never pay "full price" for anything! I shop the sales, use coupons, shop at Ross etc. I buy cars used at clearance events! Yes, I'm frugal...or cheap...
