I always have at least 1 banana a day and sometimes 2. I am low on potassium and it helps in blood pressure control. Last week, I loss 4 lbs and over the weekend I loss 2 pounds more. I think it is the whole picture of things, diet and exercise. I am eating between 1500 and 1800 cal (most days have been around 1600) and walking for 40 minutes a day right now. I am in week 2 of my program.
I have half a banana every morning. They're a little higher calorie than some fruits and veggies but will not make you fat unless you're eating over your maintenance calorie range.

My chiropractor likes bananas for their potassium. I think eating a banana a day helps me recover from workouts better. Maybe it's all in my head, but I really notice a difference when I don't have my bananas!
Bananas are on the high side for calories as compared to veggies and other fruits, but so long as portions are in reasonable control, just like anything else, you should be able to enjoy them regularly as part of a healthy diet. No doubt about it, unless you are allergic, bananas are healthy.
No one can say that *this* will make you fat. You can eat ANYTHING you want... in moderation. If you eat 500 bananas in a dayw ithout getting off the couch...yes, you will get fat. Bananas are one of the higher calorie fruits, but as long as you know that and plan other dietary items accordingly...you will not get fat.
There are soooo many different opinions on this. I personally love a banana before work or a work out for extra energy. I realize I shouldn't sit around and eat them all day! Or even if they don't contribute to weight gain, could they prevent weight loss? I am such a fruit a holic its sad!
