Strictly a personal observation about a dichotomy in some people I know IRL or online who often talk about their positive values, religions, peaceful natures, healthy eating habits, etc., etc., etc., but in behavior do just the opposite of what they seem to believe they believe.

Excellent OBIES2MOM!

Let me help with the state refund situation.

First, you only have to report it as income in the following year if you itemized (prepared Schedule A). If you so not itemize, you do not have to add it back. You can amend your 2010 - 2012 returns and get a refund if you added it back incorrectly.

Second, if you did itemize, you received a tax deduction for the state taxes you paid. Therefore, if you over paid your state taxes, you took a deduction for more than you actually paid. Hence the add back.

One dichotomy solved.

...because Hooters believes that "women should be treated with respect."

So the Mayor of San Diego (who's accused of sexual harassment against women) won't be served at Hooters (an eatery that exploits women).

Amid a recall effort, therapy and multiple allegations of sexual harassment, San Diego Mayor Bob Filner is now facing another setback: He is barred from entering the Hooters restaurants in the city he governs, with the franchisee citing a belief that "women should be treated with respect."

when people throw out/recycle the glass jars and plastic containers they buy their food in
and then buy disposable plastic containers to store other food in.

I've never understood the concept some people have of returning the plastic bags we get at the supermarket (as an effort to recycle and help the environment)
and then some of these same people buying a box of plastic garbage bags.

I have never understood the concept of having to declare a state refund of taxes as income for the following year.

Yeah, The Jetsons and The Flintstones were "prime-time" shows when they debuted.

Sometimes you just have to go with it. I hardly think that the Flintstones were designed to be thought provoking. However, it was a funny show and I do remember it being on in the evening as we did not watch much TV on Saturday morning.

Um, yeah, Dichotomy, the existence of two concepts separated but put together but really can't be or something like that.

If the Flintstones were "cavemen" which supposedly happened before the birth of Jesus, then how is it possible that the Flintstones celebrated Christmas? Remember to read my first post; I "get it", it's a cartoon. THAT was the funny part.

I love it and saved a copy to use at Christmas. It fits my family's sense of humor.

Thanks for sharing it.

Saw this on the interwebs somewhere and it just STUMPED me!

I "get it", it's a cartoon show from the 60's, it was one of my favorites and I remember it on in the evening rather than Saturday mornings.

Please share "Dichotomous" stuff you've run across.
