I knew some people who did a detox using water,lemon juice maple syrup and Cayenne pepper. They were doing it to detox and lose weight. I don't know if they if they detoxed, but they didn't lose weight.

I'll stick with my black coffee and diet colas. That is all the detoxing that I need. As others have indicated, your body does not need this sort of so-called "detoxing." The idea of a detoxing is a fad with no scientific merit, backed by good research. If some feel that recipe sounds like a yummy way to have your water, I don't have a problem with that. It sounds yucky to me, so I will pass on it.

I really like flavoured waters in the summer. I'm just not a fan of plain water! In winter i drink tea, coffee and herbal tea mostly. But in the summer I do like something cold. And most of the typical cold options are so high calorie (iced tea or lemonade typically made with lots of sugar, iced coffee usually served with too much cream/fat).... but a few slices of fruit or a few sprigs of herbs, refrigerated and served over ice, refreshing and yummy. The recipe described in the OP is but one way of flavouring plain ole water and turning it into something quite glamorous... check around for recipe suggestions for "infused water"
As others have mentioned, it's probably best to ignore all the talk of "detox" and just enjoy these things for what they are... delicious twists on good ole water.

That stuff/recipe has been around since Dinah Shore's morning tv show in the 1950's, lol. It doesn't do anything "magic", but make sure you don't have any kidney issues, it will mess you up. Otherwise, just a change of pace from boring water.................

I agree that it doesn't really sound like a detox. FYI, SparkPeople does not recommend any kind of detoxes, because your body doesn't really need them. Your body is already very efficient at removing toxins, and they can actually mess with the balance of healthy bacteria in your system, making you sick. The best thing you can do to "detox", is eat a healthy, balanced diet and exercise regularly.
Sounds like a yummy way to flavor water, but I certainly wouldn't buy into the whole "detox" aspect.

At a spa i have been to, they have a big container of milk/lemon/ and cucumber water. It's very refreshing. After you have a massage they encourage you to drink a lot of water.
BTW, if there is too much lemon, the mint will turn dark brown very quickly. it's not bad, just also not pretty.

Many friends are making detox water with mint, lemon and cucumber. I have mine melding this morning. Must sit for four hours or overnight in fridge. They all say it really flushed the system - that is through urination - they say you will pee, pee, pee!
