I agree, your journey is much harder when you don't have a support system. However, that is not your problem to solve because we have no control over others. You only possess control over your choices and your decisions. The pills will not help if you are not ready to change what/how much you put into your body. Even if you do lose weight, it'll come righ back. Same thing with the surgery. Every time. Those are all external factors. To truly change your body, you must change your mind. By that I mean you have to be honest with yourself, stop relying on thing you can't have ($$$ for surgery, support, etc.) and start making some significant sacrifices. It won't be easy but you WILL create a new pattern: mind over matter. YOU have ALL the necessary power WITHIN YOU to change the way you treat yourself. For support, you have a tremendous community here on Spark People, with so many examples and inspiring people who know what it takes to get where you want to be. I hope you begging the journey by taking charge and proving to yourself that you are worth the effort! Best wishes for growing your mind over matter power!

First off I wanted to say take a deep breath. Family can be tough, and even more so people (all of us at one point or another) feel as though if someone around us is making a life change to better them selves, it can make us feel bad about our selves because we are not or do not want to make a change and that mind set leads to sabotage weather intentional or not.
Diet pills is a sure way for pharmaceutical companies to make money and that is about it. Your body is a complicated machine with a lot of things going on in there that we are totally unaware of. It wants to maintain a constant state of energy which we like to call weight.
First focus on what little changes you can make without support from others. I know how addictive sugar can be. If you get a chance check out youtube and search for "The Bitter Truth" it is an excellent lecture that explains the effect of sugar on your body.
Second. Understand that if a change in life style is what YOU want, than you will make choices that are best for you no matter what support you are getting from your family.
Good luck on your journey, keep your head up, take it one day at a time, one choice at a time and remember you are worth it.

I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN. I'M 23 AND I WEIGHT 265. LAST YEAR I TRIED TO LOSS WEIGHT WITH DIET PILL WITH MY DR HELP. WHEN THEN I BROKE OUT FROM SOMETHING AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY. SO THEY STOP MY DIET PILLS. THEN TOLD ME TO HAVE THE SURGERY WELL I COULD AFFORD IT EVEN WITH MY INSURANCE. THEN I LOST MY INSURANCE SO I JUST TRIED TO WATCH WHAT I EAT AND WORKED OUT. I've TRIED P90X TURBO JAM AND ZUMBA. I ALSO HAVE A GYM MEMBERSHIP TO LVAC. HAVE A FAMILY THAT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THAT I'm TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT MAKE THIS HARD. FINALLY I GOT MY INSURANCE BACK AND I'm BACK ON THE DIET PILLS AND WATCH WHAT I EAT AND TRYING TO GET A WORK OUT EVERYDAY. I JUST WISH MY FAMILY WOULD BE MORE HELPFUL BY NOT BUYING ICE CREAM COOKIE AND SODA. HOPEFULLY SOON ILL HAVE MY HOUSE AND I DON'T HAVE T WORRY ABOUT THIS ANYMORE. I FEEL LIKE THE SURGERY IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL HELP ME BUT THEN I SEE HOW MUCH I HAVE TO PAY AND I DON'T HAVE IT.
