One good thing in all this is at least I maintained my weight. I've been eating less, but obviously DOING less, so that's fine. Even though I'm feeling semi-human again, I'm still a ways from well.

I just got back to feeling better after being knocked on my butt from an illness for the last 2 months... it is great to read everyone else's responses... emoticon

I have a chronic illness and it really knocked me on my but for a few years (yep years!). Now finally I am looking to regain my life and get rid of the pounds put on by sediatary living and steroids. I started out in Dec and could barely get a half mile on the treadmill at a slow pace. Today I made it up to 2 miles under 55 min, the main point here is slowly but surly.
I know had I tried the 2 miles right away I would have failed and phcyed myself out and would have quit. I go everyother day doing about an hour of cardio and weights to tone.

The main thing is go slow and steady do not overdue it or you'll hurt yourself and your phycie. Slow and steady will win this race! Good luck!!

ELOQUENTZ - it sounds like it was truly awful. I'm glad you are on the mend now! And I think it is excellent that you are here on SP posting. I went through a period of illness in 2010 and I didn't make it back here until 2012, and let me tell you, that was one of the dumbest things I've ever done. Even if you aren't quite ready to start exercising, just being involved and posting and reading stuff here will get you back in the right frame of mind to get back into it when you are able to. Sending you good strong healthy vibes!!

Oh, I have no illusions that I will be going back to where I was. This illness has truly knocked the stuffing out of me. Considering that only a few weeks ago, I needed assistance to towel off after a shower, I'm well aware of my limitations.

This is just the first week when I've even showed the remotest interest into getting back into exercise. I'm starting to get back into housework. I do not too bad if I'm doing something that has laundry...put on the laundry, change it to the dryer, but I have 20-30 minutes of rest between.

Make sure you talk to your doctor and are cleared for exercise, first. When you ARE cleared, start where you are, not where you were.. just do what you can, when you can, and LISTEN to your body.

I am glad you are on the other side of your serious illness and feeling better.
Yoga would seem like a wonderful place to start back on exercise. emoticon
The breathing focus and coordinated movement will build the foundation for building you back to a healthy place.

I wasn't sure where to post this kind of topic.

A little over 9 weeks ago, I was stricken with a very serious illness that had me bed ridden for an entire week and after that, napping as soon as I got home from work. It started as bronchitis and costochondritis (rib cage inflammation) and then developed into pneumonia 2 weeks later. I've been on 2 rounds of antibiotics and had another steroid inhaler added on top of the one I normally use for my asthma plus just started singulair on top of that. I still have NO stamina. It hurts to breathe and cough still. I wheeze all day long.

I am vaguely starting to feel like I might have some interest in exercise again, although I will have to take it really really really slowly.
