I have no expectation that any client would gift me anything since our relationship is that of employee and employer and not a personal friendship To be honest I think I would feel patronized were I gifted for doing a job for which I was being paid. I admit that I am in the minority but I do not gift any service provider since that is not the way I was raised.

One of my clients gave me a lovely gift bag today with a really nice water bottle, lotion and lip balm. Not all of my clients gave me something but the thoughtfulness always is appreciated.

Thanks all. I don't like giving people cards to specific places (except restaurants) because it ties them into getting something specifically from that place so I think I'll do a general visa or american express card. I also found the perfect personal gift, a click counter. It's sort of a gag gift because his count on reps is always off.

If your PT is very health conscious, how about a gift card to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods ? If you don't want to go the food route, sports stores do have gift cards too. You could even donate something to their favorite charity.
no, i haven't in the past and until things iron out, I won't be anytime soon.

My parents give their trainer a gift card to the trainer's favorite restaurant every year. I don't see why a nice card and cash wouldn't be appropriate either.

For those of you who work with a trainer, do you give a holiday gift and if so what?
I've worked with my current trainer for about 7 months now. He's friendly and professional but also talks about his family a little and always asks about mine. I typically give service providers a cash gift but it is very impersonal and since he sees me at my worst, I think the gist should be a little more personal. Thoughts?
