Scrambled eggs/egg whites
Omelet or quiche with just veggies
Whole wheat toast with peanut butter and a banana
Apple or banana with peanut butter
Oatmeal with fruit and nuts
Oatmeal pancakes

Smoothie made with greek yogurt and fresh/frozen fruit
Blueberry quinoa bake

French toast with sugar-free syrup, Pancakes topped with fresh fruit. Muffins made with apple sauce instead of oil (small), Yogurt with grapenuts. Smoothies. Eggs and toast, vegetarian cheese substitute instead of REAL cheese. Cream cheese (or does that count as cheese?) or another spread and 1/2 bagel.

mash 1 banana with 2 eggs, add some cinnamon and cook as an omelette. Fill with either 1 cup berries or 2 tbs. of almond butter. I also add a little vanilla extract.

boiled eggs with a banana,
poached eggs with onion
oatmeal without sugar, yogurt and fruit (my go to breakfast).

I heard that goat's milk yogurt is easier to digest, but no personal experience with it.

Eggs and toast is an old favorite of mine :)
Then there's also a slice of lightly toasted bread w/ almond butter and maybe some organic grape jelly on it (yummmmm)

Lately I've been doing meal replacement shakes for breakfast, but you have inspired me to do something different for the next day or so!

blueberries and oatmeal, tuna, soft boiled eggs.... leftovers from dinner... omlete broccoli and mushroom... coffee

I gave up alcohol so I feel your pain. Here is what I usually eat for breakfast:

Turkey bacon/eggs
greek yogurt
Leftover chicken
Peanut butter sandwich.

As someone before said, I like the idea of abandoning traditional breakfast ideas. Lately my favorite breakfast food has been peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! I also like leftovers from the night before for breakfast as long as they are healthy and I can fit them in to my calorie range.

KAYEMM3 - nice to see someone else who eats yogurt and eggs together - I thought I was the only one! I will make an omelette with some spicy peppers (jalapenos for example) and have a little cilantro and yogurt on the side. YUM! (I eat omelettes for dinner though, not breakfast.)

For breakfast I always eat a homemade oat bar. Oatmeal is a great idea. Eggs, waffles w/ berries, yogurt w/ honey, yogurt w/ fresh fruit, breakfast cereal, toast. Lots of options!

If you can get nutritional yeast, that's a dairy-free cheese alternative that a lot of vegans use. I put it on EVERYTHING. Otherwise, yogurt is a good replacement. I often put plain greek yogurt on my eggs with mixed greens.

Eggs with spinach is a go-to for me: fried with olive oil, topped with caraways seeds and ketchup with half a package of frozen spinach on the side.

Green smoothies with protein are fabulous too.

I gave up processed foods for lent. I made my own 'cheese'. It's ok taste wise, but packed with nutrition. It's from the Forks Over Knives cookbook.

No-Cheese Sauce

This sauce is great with the casserole and can be used for recipes like mac and cheese or baked ziti. Best of all, it takes about 5 minutes to put together.

1 large yellow onion, coarsely chopped
1 large red bell pepper, coarsely chopped
3 tablespoons toasted cashews, optional
1 tablespoon tahini
1 cup nutritional yeast
Sea salt to taste

Combine everything in a blender and puree until smooth and creamy.

coming from a non-dairy eater, none of my meals have cheese. i am big on smoothies, granola with nut milk, sometimes just a juice. I also don't eat whole grains, so I will choose a nut and chia seed porridge. But then as the PP said, there is no reason that you have to have the traditional breakfast foods. Have a salad or something else.

You're a better person than I - I very well might DIE if I gave up cheese!

With that said, I'm not a big cheese eater first thing in the morning. There's oatmeal, various meats/sausages, fruit, veggies, omeletes with endless possibilities... you can even abandon traditional breakfast ideas and eat other stuff.

For Lent, I've decided to give up cheese and pasta. That knocks out a bunch of food for 40 days and 40 nights, but the biggest daily impact it's had so far is breakfast! I usually would make quiches (which include cheese) or grab a Jimmy Dean Delight if I'm in a hurry... I don't just want to throw out the cheese! Any ideas on how to get a healthy, protein packed breakfast, where I won't miss the cheese?
