Sometimes you will blow it....that's why it's healthier to think of this journey as a life-style, rather than a diet. Just like sometimes you lose your temper, but most times you don't; sometimes you fall, but most times you don't--with eating/exercise/good choices, over the long haul, sometimes you'll make poor choices, BUT WITH PRACTICE, PATIENCE, GOOD HUMOR, AND ATTENTION, most times you won't.

I have been back on the boat for the past 2 days. Feeling ok about how it is going. Just hoping it can last. Thank you so much for your encouragement.

These are some great posts as I am in the same boat. A couple of years ago I was on top of things and exercising regularly, eating right, now I am in a funk and I just don't care. It's frustrating as I stare at my closet full of new clothes that don't fit.

you don't have to google it - just look at 3lb of butter :-)

I have found that when it clicks it works. You can do this! NO one can do you better than you!

So much great advice here... Keep up the good work! I see you lost over three pounds... Have you ever googled, say, what three pounds looks like? Weight maintenance is good, weight loss is fantastic! You can't be perfect (no one can), but you can try your best, and every day is a new day. emoticon

Don't give up! Guilt does no good, and you can start anew right NOW! Look at that guilt as if it is a backpack, and let it slide off your back - let it go - it serves no purpose (inspiration from Spark radio). Forget about the past, and take baby steps to a better you - hour by hour and day by day. Give yourself a hug for starting again. You can do it!!

You sound like you started boots and all! That is the best recipe for falling off the wagon!

Start this journey with baby steps. That means change just one or two things to start with and allow your body/mind to get used to the changes before adding something else to the mix. It might be replacing some soda/juice with some water, or adding 1 or 2 extra serves of fruit/veges to your day, and increasing your mobilization. If you are unfit, then walk a bit further in your day or take the stairs instead of the lift. OR it could be if you are already used to a bit of exercise, then add to it a little.

It is these gradual changes that will see you through for the rest of your life. You are less likely to feel that a healthy lifestyle is a challenge to you, and in fact, you may not really notice that you are making these changes.

I strongly suggest that you weigh all of your food for increased accuracy and enter it into the Nutrition Tracker. That will help you to tweak your intake as and when necessary.

Make sure that you start your day well - good wholesome nutrition - and then you will be more likely to continue with it the rest of the day. Don't skip meals, and don't be tempted to eat less than your range. If you have a lot of calories to decrease, do this in small increments so that you are less like to feel starved, or to feel nauseous or light-headed. I experienced this and believe me, it isn't fun! I had to go back up an drop down in 50 calorie increments. This is merely a healthy lifestyle - it isn't about deprivation or starvation. It is about wise choices of food MOST of the time - it is about portion control - it is about good hydration - it is about exercise and it is about enjoying ourselves while we do this!

If you fall off the wagon, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again. We all do it at some stage!

Take a deep breath. Relax. Forgive yourself. And just take things one day at a time.

it's only been a week, you cannot change years of bad habits in that short period of time.

What did you do that was a step in the right direction today? What goals do you have for tomorrow?

I am already falling back into old habits. I had a great first week, but over did it at my son's party and have not been able to get back on track since Saturday. It is like that taste of sugary cake and snacks set me down a spiral of bad eating. I just am so mad. I think I want this so why can't I keep it together?
