I've had a little look and joined a team and I'm going to start doing some digging around at articles to help guide me.

I used to binge to the point of making myself sick. The more stressed I was, the more I ate. Its still an issue - I lost weight, kept it off for a while, and then lost my job and started eating. I'm back on track now and have lost more than 15 lbs in the past 3 months. I don't tell you that to make you think that you can't handle this but to let you know that you're not alone, and that if you have a setback it means nothing about you as a person and especially that it doesn't make you a failure. You'll just get back on track afterward and go on from there.

Definitely read the articles here. There are articles about how to stop a binge and what to do after one. Save them and re-read them whenever you're even tempted. Also search the teams for groups you feel supported by, because feeling supported is a terrific antidote to the temptation to give up. Even when my weight was coming back up, I didn't leave Sparkpeople because I knew that I had friends here who were going to encourage and support me no matter how I struggled and would celebrate with me when I won one - even if it was just one day of healthy eating or one small step toward getting my life back together.

You don't have to be perfect. Stay on track for any hour, learn one new technique, do something that makes you feel good. An hour from now, start as though its brand new and do one good thing. When you're ready, move on to a day at a time, a week at a time. You're never going to have to be perfect. One foot in front of the other. Your can do this!

Hello Everyone!

I've just signed up here at SparkPeople after a weekend of binge eating to excess and waking on Monday to feelings of guilt, shame and my highest ever adult weight (204lbs).

I feel pretty encouraged to really give weight loss, fitness and healthy lifestyle changes a go and I feel that I need to make myself accountable to someone; and I've heard great things about the communities on her!. My problem is that I often feel encouraged for a few days and then something will happen and my resolve weakens and I'm back on the binge-diet cycle all over again... I feel quite helpless at times and very often feel at the mercy of my propensity toward binge-eating... anybody else have this problem?
