I think that it's ok to be proud of ourselves. Why not God is proud of us. It's when we get a big head and boast on and on about it that it is wrong. I have told people that I am proud of myself for working on my weight and health. If we are to love others as we love ourselves then why not be proud of ourselves.

When you work hard for something and you achieve it , there is nothing wrong with feeling good about what you have accomplished. Just don't be one of those people who are always talking about how much you lost , because that's just not right to make others feel bad if they are trying to lose, you know the types I'm talking about.
Own your success, you worked hard for it!

I think there's nothing wrong in feeling good about losing weight. Just don't praise yourself but wait for other ppl to compliment you. If you compliment yourself to others, it will seem big-headed.

The sin of pride isn't feeling good about's thinking that you're better than others and actively trying to be seen as superior

I totally agree with what the second poster said. As a Christian, I think God wants me to have a healthy body. Being all sloppy and fat is not healthy.

As long as any boasting you do is to the Glory of God, then it is A-OK. Boasting or bragging on your own self, i.e, look at how much weight I've lost, don't I look good, stuff like that is wrong. If you say, "the Good Lord helped me to stay faithful on my diet" and stuff like that, is the right kind of boasting. My dad used to say after he retired that the Good Lord has Blessed him with a good life. For everything, I give thanks to the Lord.

God wants us to be healthy and happy so we can do His work.

I think it's okay to be proud of yourself once in a while. Weight loss is a huge accomplishment. I feel so happy that I was able to get to a healthy weight and get fitter then ever. What I really want to do now is spread the good feelings and help other people lose weight. I'm thinking about becoming a personal trainer or fitness instructor someday.

I don't think pride of accomplishment is the sin - I think it is being overly prideful and lording it over someone else who didn't or who doesn't have what you have. It is the gloating aspect that is wrong, not feeling good about what you've done.

Isn't "pride" one of the deadly sins? If you're religious, how do you deal with pridefulness and weightloss?>
