Tried the Green Monster today. I did the coconut milk and greek yogurt version. Yummy! Thanks for turning me on to it.

You should search for Green Monster smoothies. They look gross to some people (because they have the spinach in them), but honestly they taste so good and fill me up. I'm also going to try to get some protein powder to put in them. I'm not a huge fan of those powders, but I really use the extra bit of protein in my diet.

Keep me up dated on your eating, if you want.

Thank you both for your help. Tracking is definitely where I need to start. I track my spending why not track my eating. It's all energy. Jeska27, I'm glad to hear of your kitchen issues. It's reassuring to know you can do it without being the "perfect" preparer of healthy foods. Smoothies bring up another issue, my roommate has an early morning shift and I hate to make the noise to wake her. Just writing that made me realize that she is gone most mornings before I get up so I could do smoothies! Yay!

I agree with ANNELIZABETH. Having a food tracking system is great. It may be time consuming, but it definitely keeps you accountable and it can give you insight on what you're eating and when (i.e. in times of stress, you may be eating a certain "sometimes" food).

Welcome back to Sparkpeople. If possible, I encourage you to find a buddy either in "real life" or on Sparkpeople and keep one another accountable. It always helps me to have a buddy.

I've been having a slight kitchen issue as well. Because of that I have been eating prepared meals from the grocery store (i.e. the garden salads, the fruit salads, the bean salads, chicken breasts, etc.) or eating out. I've been trying to plan my meals to better my eating. I'm also going to start back to having smoothies. It always helps me up my veggie intake.

I'm not sure if any of the above has helped! But welcome back and enjoy all the great people and resources!

I am now 52 years old, in the stages of menopause. I am changing to a more sedentary career. I live in a house where I hate to be in the kitchen and I used to love cooking! I've tried Atkins, low-carb, gluten free, sugar free and while that has worked in the past I am up to my highest weight ever! I know I eat lousy and emotionally but with my kitchen situation I am discouraged from doing any cooking let alone healthy cooking. I've been eating out a lot. Help! Does anyone have any tips to get me started and work around those challenges? emoticon
