It's true that you can't spot reduce back fat but from the way you describe the dress, it sounds like it may just be too small if it's squeezing from both sides, causing that "crack" effect. Can you have it altered to have a little more space in the back? That might solve your problem.

I agree with the other posters - burning fat is an all-body process, and you can't target where you lose weight from. Specific exercises may develop the back muscles (and make bare shoulders look better), but will do absolutely nothing about the overlying layer of fat.

What you can do is to continue to reduce your overall body through a combination of cardio, all-body strength training and watching your intake, and some of it will naturally come off the back.

While you can't successfully target that area with exercise....have you considered adding a very light, very lacy small shawl over your shoulders? Especially during the reception when you are up close to folks it might make you more at ease....

But remember... its the smile on your face that's going to trump any issues that day!!

In short, no. The only way you'll be able to get rid of the fat is to lose fat...and it's not guaranteed to come off your back first. If you're looking at strength training exercises for your back (which will only help strengthen and build your muscles, but won't do anything for the fat over them), I recommend lateral pulldowns, pullups (either assisted or not), narrow grip underhanded pulldowns, bent rows with the barbells and dumbbells, back extensions, and deadlifts.

No...I was just wondering if there was any strength training type exercises that could help to target that area. The wedding dress laces up in the was just wondering...

You can't target fat loss. Just try to lose weight overall. And genetics determines where we store the most fat and where we lose it from. Has this always been a problem area for you?

What are some good exercises to get rid of back fat? My wedding dress is strapless and I don't want a giant butt crack on my back!! Lol
Any suggestions??
