I took a sip from an ice cold bottle of coors light, and it was the sweetest most wonderful taste. Now, I drink Bud Select 55, or Michelob with 64 calories...and not often. Maybe once every 2 or 3 months. I have cut way way back on beer. And then when I do partake, its so much tastier.

I love beer! But I've definitely cut back since getting the spark. I can't justify the calories with all the hard work I'm putting into exercising and eating right. :(

GRASSGIRL33 - Thats called Binging and its not healthy ur best to have one or two during the week same with ur treats in moderation. Doing it all at once is not the way to go. Speaking from experience and DRS recommendation.
I just had a beerless October, I shed some weight. I will do it again for the month of January, but it will be alcohol free January :)

I love beer and apparently it loves me...right around my middle!! But...I'm allowing myself one day a week to splurge on food or drink if I feel like it. It's fun to have that day to look forward to and keeps me from feeling too deprived.

mmm ocktoberfests! Pumpkin beers, so glad they are seasonal because they aren't the best for you

I have really cut beer drinking down since college but I do still love it, used to be every weekend now more like once a month or less....I'm more concerned about getting dehydrated than going over on calories so I generally try to make sure I drink a lot of water throughout the day if I'm going to drink that night....but when I do drink beer, I probably have 5 or 6...again not concerned about calorie intake on these nights.

I love wheat beer and I love the fall because there are such good pumpkin beers and octoberfests!! I mostly limit myself to once a week because more than that and it seems that I have way more trouble losing weight. I've noticed if I drink too many in a night I really crave sugar the next day, very problematic. I plan ahead too, if I know I'm going to be drinking I eat a healthy dinner at home or look online and pick out a healthy meal before we head to the restaurant so I'm not tempted to gorge myself on crappy food just because I'm drinking.

I drink maybe 3 times a year and only ONE drink when I do. I don't have the issue of lost inhibitions because my inhibitions aren't overly impaired. Moderation is key.
I like specialty microbrews (especially dark ales and ciders), but I'm horrendously allergic/sensitive to hops, so I have to be really careful about what I choose.
I only drink them once or twice a week at the most, and will usually plan a meal around the taste so that I can get the most out of it. For instance, any kind of beer will go with any variety of pizza, and just last week I made a stew that was wonderfully accentuated by the taste of a Newton's Folly draft cider.
I've never experienced the loss of inhibitions or munchies with alcohol (not for lack of trying when I was a teenager - the worst that happened was some drowsiness at around a liter and a half of an average of 9% of various alcohols over the course of an hour). I also have a ridiculous amount of self control when it comes to mind altering substances (ie: first time I got shot in the butt with morphine, it knocked me out cold. The second time, a few months later, it had no effect at all.)
I normally prefer to drink with a meal, and take a sip every few bites. It makes me feel warm and content.

I love beer, although since my best friend quit drinking, I don't drink as much anymore, so that's good as far as cutting calories goes. I have beer every now and then, but not too often. I like to plan ahead for beer days so I know to have fewer calories earlier in the day to make up for the beer.
Just1thing, you sure have the right idea. If we always deprive ourselves, we'll fall back into the same thing we were doing before we got to where we are now. I personally do not drink beer anymore. Moved on to the harder stuff, but 2 drinks only cost me about 260 calories, so very easy to plan for. Good luck to you, and keep up the good planning.

Love my beer. Once a week on bowling night. There is no way I'm just having one or two!! Lol that defeats the purpose of letting go, loosing my inhibitions and party! Must be nice for some of you to have one but for me having one is like drinking decaf when I always drink leaded.- a waste. so for those of you like me you must PLAN. I know I'm going to crave certain foods that night so I plan some lean pockets, fat free sour cream dip with carrots, maybe a 200 calorie chicken soft taco. I drink tons of water and have a protein shake. The next day when I'm a bit sluggish I plan for that day " off" so no pressure to work out. Cravings may still have me so I keep turkey burgers on hand for lunch and usually have soup ( tomato) on the side. Again tons of water and extra sleep then I'm back at it for the rest of the week until next bowling night. 93% fat free popcorn on hand with my budlights!

I find it helps to decide before going out both how many beers I am having and what to eat after. If I try to make the decision after three beers I just know it is going to be a bad one, so instead I make it out of the influence of both beer and friends.

I love beer with tomato juice so i pretend its good for me that way!

I love my dark beers, but I have learned that I can't keep it in the house if I want to lose weight. One or two beers at happy hour is all I have now.

If you are losing inhibitions, you are drinking in excess! Nothing wrong with just having one or two, you know.

My dh is diabetic, so he has a non alcoholic beer now and then, but is too old to let himself get out of whack anymore anyway. I guess I'm lucky that I hate the smell of alcoholic beverages, makes me sick to my stomach, was kicked out of a wine tasting once for throwing up on the floor from the odor.............I know, too much info.
10/28/12 8:29 P
Don't over do it on the beer and you won't have those "inhibitions" that come along with it. Restraint/control is key with stuff like that. I enjoy a drink (not beer) every now and then but there's absolutely no reason for me to get so sh*t faced that I can't control what I eat or how many I drink.
10/28/12 6:12 P
don't care for it never did
10/28/12 6:06 P
Beer is probably the definition of EMPTY calories. But i love my beers once or twice a week. The biggest problem is the lost inhibitions and excessive consumption of food that goes along with it.
