Your breaks should be BREAKS, not "more work time". When you take a break, turn off the computer, the phones, etc. You have to take care of yourself, or you'll fall on your face and start screwing up! This job is important, but a break should be a break, period.

You know, Dude, you are right. I'm the one putting the pressure on myself. My manager is very aware of what the training needs are and agrees that the training is more important then any thing else. He also is very aware of how hard I work and how much of a perfectionist I am. I need to give myself a break and give in to the fact that I can't do it all. I am going to make the time for me. Thanks

I have a similar problem, in that while in an early childhood classroom it can be very difficult to eat. I don't get a break in my work day for lunch because I don't work enough hours. However, I'm lucky enough that I do get about 15-20 minutes during the children's lunch to sit down and eat with them. Our center encourages eating with the children to help model manners and good table behaviors. Unfortunately I'm not in that classroom everyday. Most of the time I'm in with infants, so it can be a challenge. My co-workers and I make all attempts to work out an equitable schedule where we all have time to eat during the day. Good luck!
You work at a place that cares about "health", right? You MAKE time in your schedule and do your best to stick to it, surely that shouldn't be a problem fellow healthcare workers.
A comment somewhat related but not specifically addressing the OPs quandary: I find it interesting that so many people put their "work" ahead of their "health" and actually believe that their boss/supervisors/people in charge of them, would reprimand them for taking care of themselves.
Are you eating a healthy breakfast before heading into work? That will help bring calories into your day.

I have a rather specialized job in a hospital and when we hire a new staff member I'm the trainer. While trying to keep on my regular job and supervise new staff. When this happens, I have a hard time finding time to eat. I can't eat and talk at the same time ...or I guess I could but it would be rude. Today, I had time for my protein shake, a fiber bar and a small salad. By the time I got home I had only eaten 500 calories. My "breaks" are spent trying to answer requests and catching up on emails and checking on staff. My department is expanding which is great because I need the help but I've spent 7 out of the last 10 weeks training! Thanks for any tips or suggestions.
