Just ordered Beachbody's Body Beast, which is primarily weights. The Les Mills Pump is also good, that one uses a barbell versus dumbbells.

Rodney Yee has many wonderful YOGA workouts that really work on the core. Yoga is a complete exercise program that can make you very strong.

Hi Nest - I haven't done them in a bit but if I remember correctly she only does one lunge exercise of 12 reps and she repeats every exercise twice. You could easily do a second set of squats instead.

I am lucky to be at my goal and maintaining. I love that by eating real food I don't have to track every morsel anymore.

All the best to you,

I adore Les Mills Body Pump and if you order the full kit it does come a barbell and weights!

JERF, our goals are very similar, and I eat similarly to you as we'll. Thanks. I will look into these.

PS, except I'm 41 and 0.5 inches shorter than you. I'm also wanting to lose more.

I looked at the description. Are there a lot of lunges in the lower body?

I must have been muscle-less to start, because I'm much more defined already. But, I know what you're saying. I already use different weights for different exercises of hers so that my muscles are fatigued every time.

I just like the motivator and the flow of a video. I've done free weights solo in the past, but it's so blah. But, you do what you have to do, right? :)

14 years ago after I had my first baby I bought some Kathy Smith workout videos that I think are still very relevant today. I started at quite a low weight but increased it as I got stronger. Here is a compilation of 3 of my favourites.

Circuit training videos are better classified as cardio. They involve high reps and low weight. To build muscle and strength you'd be better off to wean yourself off of these videos and follow your own weight training program that involves heavy weight/resistance and lower reps.

JM videos will help build endurance but not much strength and muscle.

I currently use Jillian Michael's "No More Trouble Zones," but I modify it. I don't do lunges or military presses. I don't like what they do to my knees. I don't need something focused on burning calories either.

I still love the DVD, but I'd like another for variety. I know I can plan my own weight program, but I love following videos.

I run and cycle for cardio. I'm really just looking for weight training. Core work on a mat is great too. Thanks!
