I like to make polenta and spread it really thin on a cookie sheet (covered with parchment or waxed paper. When it cools, you can cut rounds out of it with a bisquit cutter. Top with anything you would like (I use salsa or a small amount of chicken or salmon salad). The polenta (if not made with lots of cheese or butter) is pretty low-cal. It's a keeper around my house.

Alton Brown made mashed avocado and placed it on lightly toasted bread. And then put sardines on top. If sardines gross you out, I am sure any type of fish or shell fish would work.
or a crudité platter of red bell pepper, carrot, celery, and jicama with some low calorie dip (tzatziki or hummus)
and for sweet...nothing beats fresh strawberries and fresh pineapple

Strawberry balsamic bread bite
-thin small slice french bread -chopped strawberries -goat cheese -balsamic vinegar -basil (fresh chopped is great, but sprinkle from a jar works too) -olive oil
I like to reduce the balsamic down a bit and get it a bit thicker and give it a bit more punch. A very light brushing to tiny bit of sprinkle of olive oil on the toast before popping in the oven/toaster oven for a light toasting. Then a quick smear of cheese, and top with tossed basil/strawberry/balsamic mixture.
Calorie saving options: -use a whole wheat toast/cracker or something other than french bread -skip the olive oil -cut the goat cheese in half with greek yogurt, or go with greek yogurt and no goat cheese -or go with a tiny lettuce cup and make it a bite sized salad
Simplicity saver: -mini phyllo cups

Id check sparkppl recipes Ive ate ALOT of good ideas from there and loved all of them...Mmmmmmmm
I like slicing up the mini peppers they look so pretty with yellow, red and orange and then I add green bell pepper too. I like buying the hummus pack that has 4 different flavors. I also loved cream cheese filled jalapeno peppers.

My fav is garlic hummus and veggies. My DH loves stuffed mushrooms. My DD loves fresh hot bread and butter. Other favs are spinach and artichoke dip, nachos and shrimp cocktails.
