I have been evolving into a flexiterian for years. I was raised on a ranch and ate meat 3+ times per day. Sometime having two steaks at a sitting. I was a growing country boy and needed all that protein to do the work I did. I just don't think a vegan can eat enough substitutes to sustain that kind of life as well as a carnivore can.

Since I left the ranch, I began to cut back some, mostly due to cost, but continued loving MEAT.

As we were raising out kids, we brought in more and more veggies and started eating smaller portions of meat. Plus we started eating more chicken and fish and less red meat.

Once I started this program in Jan. I accepted the veggie extreme and have learned to love them and work with them more. I even buy and eat more and more vegan foods. So being a vegan is a good way to lose weight. LOL

Now that I have reached my weight goal and am going back into putting on more muscle mass, I am eating a bit more meat, but again, finding that lean chicken breast meat and fish is still a better choice than most red meats. I still like and will eat red meats, but I keep them to smaller portions and less often. So I think Flexiterian is a good name for where I am and where I plan to be the rest of my life.

It was fun to share the term with some new friends last night. Great conversation starter. Finding more and more low meat folks like us out there. Thanks for sharing.

I have been a flexitarian for a long time. I may eat red meat once a month. I eat chicken about twice a week and the rest of the time I eat vegetarian

Flexitarian is probably a good definition of me: I'm vegan two days a week throughout the year, have several vegan weeks throughout the year, and then in late winter/early spring am vegan for about 50 days (during Lent/Holy Week.) There are so many great vegetarian options out there that I just plain enjoy!

Funny that you bring up eating lots of veggies. I have a friend who travels to India a lot and they're never hungry (people aren't rich, but they EAT). However, they eat a lot of veggies.

I would say I'm the opposite of the flexitarian. Since adopting healthy habits, I eat more meat than ever. Meat for every meal and even snacks. Lurves meat.

I want to go full on vegetarian but my wife says that she would not know how to handle it. We eat meat at most once a week. Sometimes once every two weeks.

I feel better now than i did when I ate meat. I have more energy plus i get to eat more food. (I eat real food, whole foods, not processed foods) Vegetables and Plants have lower calorie density then meat so it takes more food to fill you up. I like eating a large amount of food so it works well with me. Where as if it was meat i'd be eating a ton of meat and gaining a bunch of weight.

i attribute being a flexiterian/only eating meat once a week to how quickly i've been able to achieve my fitness and weight loss goals.

I like beef, especially hamburgers, but it is the pork products that really draw me in. Bacon, Sausage, Pulled Pork, it truly is a magical animal. I have to put my full efforts into staying away or moderating appropriately

Me too.

I'm not anti-meat, by any stretch of the imagination (there are some really popular anti-meat videos going around), but I have noticed how much better I feel when I stay away from red meat especially.

When I saw this assumed that it meant do I eat whatever I want. I was prepared to enter yes.

I have been trying to cut down the meat in my diet by making vegetarian dishes once or twice a week for dinner though.

SP Definition: Flexitarians don’t give up meat completely but do cut back a little or a lot.

According to their definition, I am a low level flexitarian. We eat very little red meat (1X every 10-14 days).

I do eat turkey deli meat 1x week, chicken or ground turkey for dinner at least 2x week.

We splurge (or eat meat at a friends house) 1-2x/month.

Other than that, we're pretty plant based. How about you?
