I had the same problem when I was a freshman. Half way through my freshman year I started to have stomach problems and felt like I had the flu for a couple days about every 2 weeks. I went to the health center at my school and they did not know what was wrong. After a while, I was referred to a Gastroenterologist, and it turned out, after a lot of tests, that I have Crohn's Disease. Its been about a year since I have been diagnosed and my Crohn's is finally in remission. It has been hard because my GI is about 3 hours away from my school, but I have gotten through all my classes.

When i have greasy food, i feel yucky and it goes right through me. Its like i have been eating great for so long and my body is revolting. I do agree with check with your doctor;-)

Your body slowly starts to notice when you are making changes. Healthy foods give you so much nutrition and help to get you through the day. So, when boom you surprise your stomach with McDonalds - it's going to react. Your colon won't be used to the grease, so all gross comments aside - it will slide right through you.
I definitely suggest seeing a doctor about it, in case it's something stomach or colon related - but it could be just a sign to stick to what's good for you because your body is reacting like your brain to what's bad for you.

I've had issues with oily or fatty foods for years and not related to weight loss, but to IBS. Coffee, Alcohol, oil, and butter are some of the worst triggers for me for gas, bloating, discomfort, constipation, and abdominal pain. This can be actually quite helpful because it gives me yet another reason to avoid dangerous fatty foods, but it is kind of sad if I want to treat myself...

Me too, I had the same pains because of my gall bladder. If you are also getting shoulder pain then that's another sign.

This happened to me too once I started eating healthy. I found I feel best when I avoid animal fats in particular--high fat dairy products and egg yolks (I'm vegetarian.)

I agree that gall bladder is probably the culprit but don't discount that you may need to wash the lettuce that comes in the bag. Micro exposure to e-coli causes nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps and diarrhea. We eat a lot of salad
If I've been eating healthy and then have something fatty I get sick... so it could be just that but as several other people have said it could be the gallbladder. Get it checked out because if it is that and you wait too long the results are much worse than if you get it taken care of early.

I just had mine removed 2 weeks ago after a month of thinking I had a stomach virus. The high fat foods making me sick was something that was happening to me also.
I'd had chronic stomach issues most of my life and really didn't thinks twice about the pain. Apparently I'd been having "gallbladder attacks" for a long time and blaming it on my stomach.
My sister who is also a college student was experiencing the same problem and ended up having to have her gallbladder removed. Definitely, go and have it checked out. However, you will discover as you get older your body does begin to change and things that you could eat at a younger age now get put on the forbidden list.

Definitely get it checked out. It could be something small, but it could also be more serious.
My husband (boyfriend at the time) started having these same problems when we were juniors in college in 2004-2005. We had a hard time going to movies, dinner, and football games, because his stomach was always messed up. My husband didn't do anything about it until June 2010!
I hope you visit your doctor and identify the reason you are feeling sick after consuming these foods!

Could be gallstones as previously posted or a problem with your pancreas. I have had this issue (the pancreas one) before and as long as you incorporate a good amount of fiber into your diet and not eat too much saturated fat, you should be fine.

my mom got real sick from eating creamy fettuccine, it was gallstones...
This used to happen to me all the time in high school and college. I went to the doctor, he tested me for Crohn's disease but it turned out to just be IBS. Greasy foods did it the most for me..I would have to run home after eating out it was horrible. Its not easy to stay away from the foods, but you do feel better. IBS is common in young women due to stress....I hope you feel better - I know this is NOT a fun thing to go through...

i really think you should see your doctor. when this happened to me i thought it was stress or maybe i was dehydrated or constipated but it turned out to be gallstones. mine got so bad i ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis. when a person eats a fatty meal, the gallbladder contracts & squeezes bile into the small intestine. if the person has gallstones then it could be painful. PLEASE rule out gallstones before you eat a burger again!

Please make an appointment with your medical provider to talk about this issue. Also it would be beneficial to limit your fat intake to keep the symptoms to a mimimum until you know what you are dealing with for certain.

You could have gall bladder problem-should at least go to the doctor. The gall bladder reacts to fatty foods.
Okay, so I'm a college student. I noticed that in the second half of this semester (I'm a freshman), every time I ate something greasy or high in fat, my stomach felt upset. I try to eat healthy but I don't consider myself to be super-healthy. I've noticed it especially in the last few weeks. My dad suggests that it's because of stress. And on rare occasion, I do get stomach pain or feel sick at random. But it's usually, for example, if I eat a burger, pizza, or pasta with a lot of grease. I try to stay away from these foods, but sometimes that's all my dining hall has that's good!
Is it stress? Or is it just my body's response to the fat in these foods? If so, why did it only start happening now? I've never had problems with these foods before.
