Hi and congratulations on beginning your Spark journey!
There's so much here to help you along the way and excellent advice to setting and achieving healthy goals. With the thousands and thousands of fellow Sparkers you will always find someone you can connect with. I am always amazed how many lives have been changed for the better through the use of SparkPeople.
If you have not already done so, I suggest that you check out the videos in the "Healthy Lifestyle" section. Scroll down for the site orientation videos.
That should point you in the right direction. I find that if you just start looking around Spark, you will quickly learn about the wonderful tools available for your use. After being a Sparker since 2007, I still find something new and very useful.
Congratulations on taking the first steps to take care of yourself and Wow! Two Half Marathons!! (I'm starting to work my way up to one now!) I've found that though I can do all those other activites, I always go back to walking and yoga. And when I've stuck to them, I've still lost the weight. I'm sure you will find a way to make it work for you.

Hi everyone ! I am hoping to make smart lifestyle changes gathering tips from here.. I have been associated with the Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Industry for the past 15 years.. So I am very aware of how i should take care of my body, but been procrastinating about it for the past 10 odd years. With the result that I have put on oodles of weight in the bargain.. I made a commitment to start walking and gain health. I have participated in two half marathons in the past 2 years, completed it in decent time .. but not been able to lose weight still.. I am a migraineur for the past 15 years (all my work life) which makes gymming not a very attractive option. I cant do very aggressive exercises.. So i stick to yoga and walking.. If I stick to a routine and eat sensibly, I am sure I will be able to see a new healthy and fit me in a years time. For fitness, the goal is to reduce the BMI from 36 to 25. For this, I have to lose 70 pounds (30 kg)..
