I went on a school trip with 22 10 year olds, but I didn't count it. I figured it was bonus calories, and if I was honest I didn't raise my heart rate for 10 minutes or more at a time.

Sounds good but we zig zag in all directions, I would remember our path. It's ok, I'll just consider it a little bonus. I would really love to get the fitbit. The pedometer I have constantly gets reset by accident. I've tried wearing it different ways.

One option might be to use the fitness maps to track a circuit around the zoo, and at least come up with a distance.

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes makes sense. I wasn't sure how that worked. I don't count house cleaning or daily tasks that don't feel like I am working out or getting my heart rate up.

Hi JMSA67,

Remember there are cardio activities (such as a sustained walk at a brisk pace, cycling, swimming, etc for at least 20 minutes) and then there are activities of daily living (ADL) such as shopping, going to the zoo, working, cleaning, etc. We caution our members not to count the ADL activities in their fitness tracker and the reason is, we factor in an active daily living multiplier for these activities so if you track them in your cardio tracker, too you may be hyper-inflating your calories burn goal which could cause an increase in your calorie range which could slow your progress.

That being said, if you want the fitness minute credit without the calories burn you may want to use the Fitness Quick Tracker.

I hope this helps!

Coach Nancy

Just spent 6 hours at the zoo with my toddler. Most of it walking or standing. I don't have a pedometer. How would I figure out how many calories I burned?
