My life has been exactly that - A Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Journey! Every one has their ups and downs, but thank God, my life has had more ups than downs. :)

My mom almost died when I was in the 2nd grade. Her body started shutting down with no explaination. She lost 74 pounds in 3 months. She was completely emaciated, and very frail. After my mom started regaining her health, she began eating to start gaining weight again. As she went up in weight, I followed her lead. Not too long after that, I was very overweight for my age, and like the snowball effect, I kept on rolling and rolling and rolling - gaining more and more weight every year until I passed her and the rest of my family.

I have tried every fad diet in the book, but nothing ever seemed to work for me. The weight was on again, off again, on again, off again..and my emotions were a crazy roller coaster ride nobody wanted to ride.

I am now a senior in college studying Elementary Education. I have a passion to influence and change the lives of young people. This past March I stepped on the scales and realized I had allowed myself to near the brinks of 300 pounds. I bawled my eyes out as I looked at the scale and saw I weighed 296 pounds. My 20 year old body should *not* weigh this much!!

A dear friend of mine had just begun working out with a certified fitness trainer from my church, and she invited me to come workout with her. I did not like the idea for many reasons - #1 being I. Am. Very. Stubborn. ;) But after much reluctance, I decided to go "try it out."

Today, 8 months later, I am still working out with my fitness trainer, Grace, and I weigh 255.6 pounds!!! I have lost 40.4 pounds, and over 28 inches!

Three weeks ago, I ran my first 5K in Cincinnati, OH. I am running another 5K on Thanksgiving morning in Chicago with my brother - who is a body builder - go figure!! :) I am also currently training for a half marathon. Life is amazing - I get so excited every day I wake up - I have been learning to take joy in the little things in life, but I thought I would share a *big* thing with you :) I hope I was an encouragement to somebody!! :)
