Sounds like 48 hours of unnecessary torture. I prefer to just eat healthy and exercise rather than starving myself.

It gives you horrible diarrhea and that isn't worth it.

Your body is really clever at 'detoxing' itself. This is what kidneys etc. are for.

I have seen programs on TV showing detox etc. The subjects weren't aware that what they were being given wasn't what they thought it was. They reported feeling MARVELOUS after, and were gutted to learn that they were actually being given normal, everyday stuff. I think this shows that perhaps for a lot of people, feeling great after a detox is likely more a psychological effect (placebo) rather than a reality.

I tried it years ago, and as a different person mentioned you are going to the bathroom A LOT.

The diarrhea I experienced with this diet was painful and not worth the idea of doing so again.

If it is pure juices, I think it is fine for a couple days as long as you enjoy it. If I had the money to afford the juice though, I would take it and buy veggies, meats, and fats.

As an adult, you have the right to choose the eating plan as you desire.
However, our Sparkpeople site bases weight loss and health recommendations on scientific research evidence. There is no research to support the use of this 2 day water/juice fast. This is a practice that this site does not support.

There are no miracles. This is just science. Any diet can knock water weight off of you, and as long as you like fruit juice, there isn't anything nasty to take. You are just eating enough carbs to keep your energy up, since fruit juice is just sugar, like pop. However, you aren't getting much fat, or protein, so that would be a problem, as well as " fasting ", which is why it is just 2 days.

I could tell you to eat plain meat at 1500 calories a day, and you would lose weight in bunches, but it isn't something to try for. The absence of carbs has a diuretic effect, so you might lose 5-6 lbs in 2 days. That doesn't mean you should try that.

Also, any temporary diet, will just be reversed when you revert back to the way you were eating before, so why bother. Fluid fluctuations like this have a better chance of doing damage to the heart, than seeing lasting results.

If you like doing this, go ahead, but I think the negative response are only because of concern for your long term health.

Tried it long ago-its a detox diet meant to rid you body of excess waste and water weight. I didn't enjoy the cramping, running (literally) to the bathroom and feeling Starved.

I don't like the idea of starving myself. I see no point to it. I do too many workouts for this to end in anything other than me in the hospital

I don't do fasts. I don't get the point of them. I would rather just eat really healthy food on a regular basis.

For those of you who haven't heard of it before, it is a two day fast where you only drink water and a "special" kind of juice. I've used it before and I love it. It gives me more energy and wipes out my cravings for sugar other than fruits. I love how clean I feel afterwards and will be doing it today and tomorrow to give my body a break.Has anyone else tried it and loved the results as much as I did? I feel like everyone I know who has tried it hated it because they had to give up food for two days, but I'm sure there is someone else you likes a good fast every now and again.
