Good attitude. Take it one day at a time, don't burn yourself out. Remember to have fun too, you won't get this day back.

Slow & Steady. One-day-at-a-time. Don't overdo the exercise or you may burn out.

I'm probably repeating what you already have heard -
don't go for too many changes at once. Make one or two changes, then add another one or two as those become your new habits, etc.
don't go 'all or nothing'. You'll slip. We all do. The famous Spark analogy: if you are driving and have a flat tire, you don't puncture the other 3 tires and cancel your trip. You fix the flat and continue on your way. you messed up and overate? That happens. Make good choices for the rest of the day. you didn't workout 3 days in a row? That happens. Get up and go do 10 minutes worth of something, and do a better job with your exercise going forward.
don't get hung up on the scale. It's a stubborn, frustrating thing! Remember that there are MANY ways to measure your progress - you may lose inches, or be able to do more exercise, or have a lower resting heart rate, improved blood pressure and cholesterol numbers, etc. Celebrate those victories!
don't be too hard on yourself. Be tough, be honest, but don't punish yourself for not being perfect.
never, ever, ever give up!

One can never be complacent. It truly is a lifetime item. Establishing good habits for the long run helps. Of course we are still human and may really struggle, and take a step backward from time to time. We can not crucify ourselves for these times. We simply need to pick ourselves back up and resume THE GOOD FIGHT !!!!!

Thanks Ya'll! In my head I know all these things are true, but it is really helpful to her them from someone again! Wendy
I believe that you attitude is a HUGH part of this life style journey. If you realize that it's your body & you get to design what it looks like you can go far. If you realize that exercise is good for your body and not a punishment that is a good mind set. If you know that food is your friend (how you fuel your body) and not you enemy (eating from your emotions) this is good too. I also believe that you have to like yourself well enough to make the positive changes.

Like Darcy said, it is a lifestyle change, it won't happen overnight. (lol i wish!!).
Realize that some days it's going to be hard - and if you have a "slip" you get right back on the next day and start again.
I have yet to read anyone say "Wow, I did great, I ate like a champ and worked out every single day for 90 days and lost 30 pounds, that was a piece of cake, easiest thing I've done in my life!!!"
Everyone has good days, bad days, meh days - but the ones who succeed are the ones who keep going!!

Way to go! I am not really a newbie, but I have just started to get really serious with my weight loss on Tuesday. This is my third day and I must say I feel much better and way more optimistic. You are on the right track and being here is a big help, so much support and advice. Keep up the good work and remember all the hard work will definitely pay off.
