The most effective way to lower your cholesterol is through diet and exercise.
My cholesterol used to be borderline high when my weight was at it's highest. I just had my cholesterol done and my total cholesterol is 123 now. I never took any meds or herbs...just changed the foods I eat and added exercise to my life.

I'm not familiar with western herbs, but there are lots of Chinese medicine out there. Some are very effective but dangerous if you're not familiar with it. Make an appointment with an acupuncture doctor. They can assess your condition and give you Chinese herbs.
Keep in mind, they often recommend exercise first before providing herbs. We do think that's more effective than herbs.

I lowered mine 40 points mostly through diet and exercise. I'm in between healthy and borderline right now so could probably stand to lower it a bit more. I bought the fish oil but just keep forgetting to take the pills with my meals!

I know from my physical stats in 2011 to 2012 my cholesterol (especially the triglycerides) are now in the normal range just by eating healthy and exercising.
My cholesterol, before this year, was always in the bad ranges.
