Just hang in there and don't give up! I have been that way since March (before I even came to Sparkpeople). I have been gaining and losing the same 2 to 3 pounds. However, I did finally have a breakthrough last week and lost 5 pounds. Then, 3 came back haha. But, I am going to hang in there. It is all in how the body wants to react to the situation. When I lost my five pounds, I pushed myself to work out harder than ever before. I never understood why the people felt like vomiting on the Biggest Loser until that work out and I felt the same way. But, in the end, I felt so much better. Just hang in there and try to mix things up a bit and maybe that will help.
thanks for your advice....i do try to change up the food a bit, but i suppose i could add more things...i also try to keep the excercise (what little i get in, due to my busy schedule) different; i recently added jumping rope, and thought thatmay be some good cardio. but i will keep trying. thank you!

Hi, Meg ! You're going to have to tell us a bit more about yourself because right now, we really don't have enough information to answer your question.
First off, a 2 pound "gain" does not mean you're doing something wrong. If you know you've been eating right, then you know you didn't gain fat. In order to truly gain two pounds of fat, a person needs to eat an extra 7,000 calories. one pound of fat = 3,500 calories. so, if you know you didn't eat that much extra food, then you didn't gain fat. Why did you gain ? You're retaining water. This is perfectly normal.
You're weight is not a static number. It really does go up and down for many different reasons. Ever notice your weight goes up during TOM ? Most women tend to gain weight during their menstrual cycle. Is that a fat gain ? Nope, that too is nothing more than a temporary water weight gain that passes in a few days. this too shall pass. I can easily gain or lose 3-4 pounds in a day because of a water fluctuation. so, try not to worry.
You've already lost 43 pounds ! That's fantastic. Let's put a positive spin on your plateau. You haven't GAINED any weight over the last four weeks. That says you are doing something right. Why do you seem to have stalled ? Well, one thing I would ask is if you've been eating the same foods day after day after day.
If you've been eating the same foods, it's time to shake things up. Change your routine. add some new veggies. Try some different recipes. Eating the same things can cause a person to plateau.
What are you doing for strength training ? If you're not doing any type of strength training, I'm going to encourage you to start. Don't neglect your strength. If you really want to see a change in your body do some strength training to add lean muscle. Muscle burns fat and the more lean muscle you carry, the more efficient your body will be at burning fat.
Like the food you eat, if you've been doing the same exercise routine, change your routine. the human body thrives on change and challenge. If your body has adapted to the exercise you've been doing for the last few weeks, it's time to change the routine to challenge your body. If you are doing some strength training, it's time to increase intensity. that doesn't have to be anything drastic. If you've been using 5 pound weights for some exercises, time to increase to 8 or 10 pounds. Don't be afraid to challenge your muscles.

i started losing weight in january, and as of the begining of april, id lost 43 pounds. i was 150 overweight, so the pace of loss was ok. but, since the beginning of april, ive been unable to lose anymore. ive stuck to about 1300 calories a day, and i lead a very active lifestyle (i work on my feet 10 hours a day, play with my kids, and do farmwork on a dialy basis). and, when i get the chance, i excercise. i weigh myself once a week, and this morning i checked the scale, and i gained 2 pounds. aside from mothers day and my daughter birthday, ive done a great job on my diet, and i do enough physical activity that i should be losing....any suggestions?? oh, and my measurements havent changed either....so i cant think ive replaced the fat with muscle
